After being captured by Neron and caged in his hellish realm, Wonder Woman manages to rescue her friends and loved ones from his demonic clutches--but the price she pays is high. Struck down by Neron's power, the Amazon Princess is trapped in a coma, her body intact but her soul ravaged. As her life force slowly drains away, every hero and champion of Man's World rallies to her side--but in the end, only the person closest to her can bring Diana back from the dead.
As Wonder Woman returns to the mortal realm, a new threat arises that confounds explanation. A mysterious entity known as Egg Fu has been abducting innocent people and it's up to the Amazing Amazon, Artemis, Cassie Sandsmark, and Donna Troy to stop it. But what sinister purpose does Egg Fu serve--and how does it connect to the cataclysmic changes being wrought on New Genesis and Apokolips?
Finally, past and present collide in the ultimate showdown between the champions of light and the forces of darkness--and the fates of Princess Diana, Queen Hippolyta, Donna Troy, and the gods themselves are laid bare. But in the end, who is destined to claim the mantle of Wonder Woman?
Find out in Wonder Woman by John Byrne Vol. 3, the final volume in the epic Amazonian saga by legendary writer/artist John Byrne (Superman, X-Men, Fantastic Four)!

Not a huge issue, DC. But ok, the editorial leadership decided to collapse the multiple universe into one. (dumb in my opinion, but ok) and out of that many characters were re-introduced. Among them Wonder Woman. When John Byrne took over, the Amazing Amazon had been relaunched by the spectacular George Perez (writing and art) and before he took over was in the capable hands of William Messner-Loebs (Author), Mike Deodato (Illustrator). Great acts to follow.
To take over Wonder Woman is a huge task. She is an anchor and a major character in DC that before that I think was not realized at all. John Byrne really took her and provided a very strong character and supporting cast/story line. He did really cool things to bring back many interesting aspects of her Silver and Bronze Age character that we fans missed.
This volume addresses a lot of things that Crisis created problems with. Such as Wonder Woman's role in the Justice Society and dealing with the mess that became of Wonder Girl (Donna Troy, one of the foundations of the Teen Titans.
To many fans, how he worked out Donna Troy's story was flawed, but he tried to give us back the Wonder Girl/Donna Troy fans wanted. Was it the best? I don't know. But I was happy to have Donna /(Wonder Girl) back!
I enjoy his art and story telling so I recommend this as part of someone's Wonder Woman collection. I am very happy the material collected here is finally collected. I enjoy the JSA storyline and though I'm not really as keen on the Dark Angel story, I really do like the material.
A good read. Nice call backs to things in the Bronze Age that were missed at the time and a nice continuation of the character within the parameters set by DC at the time.
