It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful departure of Delia Rodriguez Brown, affectionately known as Mom, Sister, Grandma, G-Grandma, Mother-in-Law, and Tia, on Sunday, May 14, 2023, in Houston, Texas.
Delia, aged 90, was born in Bastrop, Texas, and spent her formative years in Houston. Throughout her life, she radiated love, dedication, and an unyielding spirit that touched the hearts of all who knew her.
As a mother, Delia's devotion to her two children, Cynthia and Adolph, knew no bounds. She
celebrated their accomplishments, supported them through challenges, and nurtured their
individuality with unconditional love.
She shared a special bond filled with admiration and pride with her son. She encouraged his
passions and stood by him as a pillar of strength. Her love for him remained strong and constant,
and she always offered a receptive ear, wise guidance, and a comforting embrace.
Similarly, with her daughter, she fostered a deep and loving connection. They laughed together
daily, confided in each other, and created cherished memories that would last a lifetime. She
instilled in her daughter confidence and independence while providing the warmth and guidance
needed to navigate life's complexities.
She was a true embodiment of what it means to be a great sister. She possessed a heart filled with
unconditional love, and her devotion to her siblings knew no limits. She was always there for
them, offering a listening ear, words of encouragement, and a shoulder to lean on.
As a mother-in-law, Delia exemplified what it meant to be loving, compassionate, and accepting.
Her role as a mother-in-law extended far beyond conventional expectations. She offered
guidance and wisdom, always ready to provide a supporting hand or a comforting word. Her
ability to offer advice without judgment and encourage personal growth nurtured our journeys as
individuals and within our families.
Delia's friendship extended to her grandchildren, Alethea and Anjelica, and her great-
grandchildren, Anson and Zade. She was a doting grandmother, radiating love and warmth
towards her grandchildren. She poured out her love abundantly, showering them with endless
affection and nurturing them with untiring care and tenderness. Her face would light up with joy
whenever she saw their smiles, and she would go above and beyond to create cherished
memories and moments of happiness for them. Her love for her grandchildren was constant,
leaving an indelible mark on their hearts and lives.
Delia's warm and nurturing spirit extended her role as an aunt and grandmother to other family
and friends who referred to her as Tia, G-grandma, and Grandma. Her love and care reached
beyond her immediate family, touching the lives of extended relatives with the same compassion
and affection that she showed to her children and grandchildren.
Her professional journey led her to the Houston Chronicle, where she served as an administrative
clerk. Though her role may not have been in the spotlight, her exceptional organizational skills
and dedication made her an invaluable part of the organization. Her warm and friendly demeanor
earned her respect among her colleagues, and she became a reliable and trusted team member.
In her retirement, Delia embraced a vibrant lifestyle that kept her happily engaged. With her
keen eye for style and a knack for finding the perfect deals, she could often be found busily
exploring the aisles of various shops, indulging in her passion for shopping. Yet, amidst her retail
adventures, she also found solace in her beloved garden, tending to its blooming flowers and lush
greenery with immense love and care.
She gracefully embodied poise, elegance, and attention to detail in every aspect of her life.
In the evenings, as the sun began to set, she would eagerly settle down with her favorite novelas,
captivated by the dramatic twists and turns of the characters' lives. These television dramas
provided her with a delightful escape, allowing her to immerse herself in the colorful world of
storytelling and entertainment.
Delia's love for sports and music was evident as she passionately cheered on her grandchildren
on the playing fields and remained a loyal Dallas Cowboys fan. Her Roman Catholic faith was
an integral part of her life, and she faithfully attended mass every Wednesday at St. Anne
Catholic Church, accompanied by her daughter Cynthia and great-grandson Zade.
In this time of mourning, we reflect on Delia's profound impact on our lives. Rest peacefully,
dear Delia, knowing your memory will be cherished and your spirit will live on through us all.
Delia's strength, determination, and fierce independence inspired everyone who knew her. Her
presence will be deeply missed, and her legacy of love and grace will continue to guide and
encourage those she leaves behind.
She is survived by her children, Cynthia Contreras and Adolph Brown Jr., who were the joy of
her heart and the center of her world.
She is also survived by her two adored grandchildren. Additionally, she leaves behind two dearly
loved great-grandchildren, whose laughter and innocence brought her immeasurable delight.
Delia's sister, Rosie Vargas, stood by her side through life's triumphs and challenges. Their
sisterly bond was unbreakable, and they shared a deep connection that provided strength and
comfort.
In addition to her immediate family, Delia leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and other
treasured friends and relatives who were touched by her love and kindness.
Delia's extended family also played an integral role in her life. Kevin, Brad, and Jackie, whom she held dear, provided support, love, and companionship that brought immeasurable joy to her life.
She is reunited in eternal peace with her loved ones who preceded her in death, including her:
Parents, Prudencio and Julia Rodriguez
Siblings, Gilbert and Charles
Other beloved family members and friends, Peter, Neftalie, Javier, and Linnea.
Although they are no longer with us, their memories and the love they shared will forever be
cherished in our hearts."
