Remembering the life of Joan Eileen McCann, (née Monaghan).
August 27, 1936-May 16, 2023.
Joan was born in Everett, MA. Daughter to Ellen Monaghan, (née Haggerty), and Edmund Monaghan. Predeceased by her husband, Frank Joseph McCann VI, sister Ellen, brother Edmund, and sons-in-law Richard Toomey and David Hopkins.
Joan is survived by Kathleen Hopkins (late husband David), Dr. Stephanie Reynolds and her husband Kevin, Elizabeth Johnson and her husband Joseph, Mary Portway and her husband Doug, Frank McCann VII and his wife Erika, and Dr. Ellen Sfecla and her husband Iulian. Grandmother to Neil Hopkins, Ian Hopkins (wife Dr. Colleen Hui), Ceilie Reynolds, Brian Reynolds, Reggie DeBenedetto (husband Tony DeBenedetto), Ricky Toomey, Charlee Toomey, Maggie Cavallerro (husband Andy Cavallerro), Tommy Portway, Allison McCann, Shannon McCann, Frank McCann VIII, Matthew McCann, Sydney Vernaglia (husband Jake Vernaglia), Paul Sfecla, and Luke Sfecla. She was also Great-Grandmother to Henry Harrison, Luke Hopkins, and Olivia DeBenedetto; and of course, Grandma Beach to everyone.
Joan was originally from Everett, MA where she received her Certificate in Nursing at the Boston College’s Widden School of Nursing. She moved to Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri, after marrying Frank while he served in the US Army Corps of Engineers. They then moved South Orange and eventually Loch Arbour NJ. After Frank’s passing, Joan became an active member of the Rolling Meadows Community in Tinton Falls.

Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, May 27 at 10:30 at St. Anselm’s Catholic Church 1028 Wayside Rd., Tinton Falls, NJ 07712.
