I'm aware of this. And it is not an exact word-for-word.

I know he always turns it down, but I'm gonna toss out Rick Pruitt (@Rick) again for writer of the year.

He says he ain't gonna be writing much longer, so now's the time!

For best DVD(BR) and best restoration, Doctor X comes to mind.

What, or where, has Rick written in 2021, Godz?

First off, thank you, Godziwolf, I am flattered.

Secondly, don't sweat it, Jim. When I saw "Rick Pruitt" I also wondered who that was.

My typical reason for slinking away from this is that it doesn't seem right to be nominated for writing on a site which is itself not eligible for nomination.

But if I'm gonna be honest (and why not try a new thing?), I'm old-fashioned enough to think of "writer" as someone whose words are in a book or magazine. They are on paper, in other words.  Pixel words just don't seem very real to me.

Also "writers" are out in the world, not confined to an internet chat board. Of course, I know it's true that the world can come peeking in here anytime it wants to, but it doesn't really do that.

So, thanks again for the thought, but I'd prefer if you'd vote for a "writer" (genuine, old-fashioned brand.)

You present thoughtful concepts in pleasing word form, Rick.

You're a Writer.

Noufaux wrote:Becoming Dracula Volumes 1 and 2 by Gary D Rhodes and Bill Kaffenberger need to be in somewhere, Best Book or Authors at all?

There’s an incredible amount of dedication, information and facts in these books. Nearly 800 pages of pure pre-Dracula Béla Lugosi, and rare photos. I consider these books as my bibles.😅

It took them years to gather up the information via archives in Hungary, Germany and Austria! It would be a crime if these books/authors weren’t nominated.
What is the thinking among members here? I consider them two separate books - separate ISBNs, publishing dates, etc. I own Volume One but not Volume Two. I wouldn't vote for them as a "set" if I've only read "half" of it.

Curious of others' thoughts.

It’s because originally it was meant to be one whole book, but due to all the extra info they found, it would have been too large to be one book, as it’s a total of 800+ pages, and both volumes were released last year. I think first was March and second was September. Would have been sooner between each other… but y’know, the virus that shall not be named held a lot of things up.

Plus Vol.2 starts as Chapter 21, it absolutely continues from Vol.1. I hope that helps.

In short, get Vol.2! 😃

I second (or third or whatever) nominating Rick for the writing award.

shhhhh.... don't tell Rick.

Also, all of Rick's posts in his 50 Years Ago thread need to be transferred to paper and made into a real G.D. book!

I guess the nominating has begun! Please accept my nomination of "Sacre bleu, c'est un Loup-Garou" as "Best Article." Written by newcommer J.A. Rossignol, this amazing "monster memory" appeared in issue #123 of Scary Monsters magazine. What happens when a camping trip goes awry in the Maine woods? Watch out for the Loup-Garou!

Hardly necessary, but I'd like to nominate Little Shoppe of Horrors as best classic horror magazine.
