Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons are just one of the many celebrity couples who met on set.

The duo first worked together in 2015 when they played a married couple on season 2 of the FX hit series Fargo. However, their romantic relationship didn't develop until about a year and a half later.

"I knew that she would be in my life for a long time," Plemons told The New York Times about working with Dunst for the first time.

Dunst added that they both bonded over being former child stars, saying, "We laugh about the fact that we were two child actors, and we both made it out okay." Dunst's breakout role was in Interview with the Vampire when she was 11, while Plemons got his acting start in a Coke commercial when he was 2.

After getting engaged in 2017, they welcomed two sons together: Ennis Howard and James Robert. In July 2022, PEOPLE confirmed that the couple tied the knot.

In 2015, Dunst and Plemons costarred on the second season of FX's Fargo, in which they played high school sweethearts. Though they clearly had a great connection working together, they didn't develop a romantic relationship until about a year and a half later, after Dunst split from actor Garrett Hedlund in April 2016.

May 2016: Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons spark relationship rumors

In May 2016, the former costars sparked romance rumors when they were spotted sharing a kiss in Studio City, California, though they never confirmed anything at the time.

January 2017: Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons get engaged

In January 2017, engagement rumors swirled when Dunst was spotted wearing an oval-shaped diamond on her ring finger at Paris Fashion Week. Dunst later confirmed their engagement during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in June 2017.

December 2017: ​​Kirsten Dunst reveals she's expecting her first child with Jesse Plemons

In December 2017, it was reported that Dunst was pregnant with the couple's first child. The actress later confirmed the news when she showed off her baby bump in Rodarte's Fall-Winter 2018 portrait series a month later.

May 3, 2018: Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons welcome their first child

In May 2018, Dunst and Plemons welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Ennis Howard. A few months later, the couple made their first red carpet appearance as new parents as they attended the Emmy Awards in September.

August 29, 2019: Jesse Plemons supports Kirsten Dunst at her Walk of Fame ceremony

In August 2019, Dunst had Plemons and their son, Ennis, by her side as she was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

During the ceremony, Plemons gave a sweet speech in Dunst's honor, saying, "Aside from the brilliant actor you are, I have also had the even greater pleasure of getting to know you as a person outside of work — KiKi or Keeks. Seeing the kind of mother and wife, daughter, sister, friend and cohort you are is why I and all of your friends and everyone else are here today and why we all love you."

In 2020, Dunst was nominated for best actress in a television series musical or comedy for On Becoming a God in Central Florida. Dunst attended the ceremony with Plemons by her side.

Dunst told E! Live from the Red Carpet, "We're treating this as parents' night out because tomorrow we're going to New Zealand." The couple was traveling to New Zealand to shoot their 2021 film The Power of the Dog.

March 30, 2021: Kirsten Dunst reveals she's expecting her second child with Jesse Plemons

In March 2021, Dunst revealed she was pregnant with her and Plemons' second child when she appeared on the cover of W Magazine. In the gorgeous images captured by Zoë Ghertner, Dunst could be seen showing off her baby bump.

May 2021: Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons welcome their second child

In May 2021, it was reported that Dunst gave birth to the couple's second child, a baby boy named James Robert. She later confirmed the news in an interview with The New York Times in September 2021.

"This is the newest guy, the Big Kahuna," she said of her newborn. "He's an angel, but he's a hungry angel. And a heavy angel."

November 17, 2021: Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons costar in Netflix's The Power of the Dog

In November 2021, Dunst and Plemons teamed up again for Netflix's The Power of the Dog, based on Thomas Savage's 1967 novel of the same name. In the Western psychological drama, Dunst plays a widow who falls in love with a Montana rancher named George Burbank (played by Plemons).

Dunst and Plemons have received critical acclaim for their roles in the film, including various award nominations. In addition to Dunst's SAG Award nomination for outstanding performance by a female actor in a supporting role, Plemons is also up for supporting actor at the BAFTAs. Both Dunst and Plemons received their first Academy Award nominations for their roles in the film, Best Supporting Actress and Best Supporting Actor, respectively.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Dunst said she was eager to work with Plemons on another project. "We actually talked to [The Power of the Dog producer] Tanya Seghatchian about what Jesse and I should do next," she told the publication. "We have some ideas, and Jesse and I definitely want [to] do another project. He's my favorite actor to work with."

In a behind-the-scenes featurette shared exclusively with PEOPLE in December 2021, Plemons offered the highest praise for his fiancée's performance in the film. "I'm constantly amazed by what she brings," he said. "She just operates from such a deep place in her soul."

February 22, 2022: Kirsten Dunst opens up about wedding planning with Jesse Plemons

During an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Dunst revealed that while she and fiancé Plemons "call each other husband and wife," they haven't officially tied the knot yet.

"We have to get married at this point. It's ridiculous. We just haven't planned a wedding," Dunst said, citing the COVID-19 pandemic and having a second baby together as reasons she hasn't walked down the aisle.

"I didn't want to be pregnant, get married, have a party and not be able to have fun with everybody," she added.

Both Dunst and Plemons celebrated their Oscar nominations for their supporting roles in The Power of the Dog on the Oscars red carpet in L.A., but their minds were on their children miles away in Atlanta.

The couple gave their sons, Ennis Howard and James Robert, a shout-out from the red carpet.

"They're in Atlanta right now because that's where I'm working, and they're at a toddler Oscars party," Dunst explained. "So, the girls next door invited them over, and so they're all representing us there."

They hit the red carpet again later that night as they attended the annual Vanity Fair Oscar party together.

July 2022: Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons get married

On July 8, PEOPLE confirmed that Dunst and Plemmons tied the knot. The Power of the Dog costars quietly got married the weekend of July 2nd at the GoldenEye luxury resort near Ocho Rios, Jamaica, according to Page Six.

August 31, 2022: Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons enjoy a date night at Aaron Paul's birthday party

Dunst and Plemons helped celebrate actor Aaron Paul's 43rd birthday at The Fleur Room in West Hollywood, California.

The newlyweds looked casual as they headed to the party, with Dunst wearing a floral skirt with a black tee while Plemons wore a green T-shirt and blue jeans.

While chatting with Entertainment Tonight at the premiere of his TV series Love & Death, Plemons opened up about his marriage to Dunst.

"It's funny. I wasn't sure how different [marriage] was gonna feel because we've been together for a while and, two kids later, it's pretty solid, you know?" he said. "But there was something really nice about [a wedding] and actually setting aside time to celebrate it, and it does feel different, in a good way."

The Windfall actor went on to tell the outlet how much he enjoys a date night with Dunst.

"Half the time it's [at an event] like this, but we'll take it and I appreciate it nonetheless," he said.

May 20, 2023: Jesse Plemons and Kirsten Dunst attend the Cannes Film Festival

Dunst accompanied Plemons to the premiere of his film Killers of the Flower Moon at the Cannes Film Festival. The couple, who coordinated in black ensembles, walked the red carpet together.

The following day, Plemons and the Bring It On alum were photographed on a casual stroll through Cannes, France.

August 9, 2023: Jesse Plemons and Kirsten Dunst walk the SAG strike picket line

The couple joined the SAG-AFTRA strike picket line in front of Netflix Studios in Los Angeles. Plemons showed solidarity in an official "SAG On Strike" T-shirt, while Dunst wore a yellow striped tee and denim shorts.

March 5, 2024: Kirsten Dunst says she and Jesse Plemons "don't talk to each other on set" while working together

In an interview with Marie Claire, Dunst opened up about working with Plemons on the set of the movie Civil War.

“Because we fell in love on a set, we fell in love creatively first. I think we'll always come back to that, in a very not-involving-our-real-life way," she said. "And also, listen, we don't talk to each other on set. I left him alone, he left me alone."

She clarified that she does "love working with him," even if they don't speak.

“He sent me a scene last night of this miniseries he's working on to get my opinion. If I'm having a hard time deciding on something, I'll have him read it,” Dunst said. “I trust his opinion more than anyone, and he cares about me more than anyone."
