2012: Jenna Dewan and Steve Kazee first meet in N.Y.C.

In the fall 2021 issue of The Knot Magazine, Dewan revealed that she and Kazee met years before they started dating while he was starring in the Broadway musical Once and that they had shared a "moment."

"About nine years ago, I happened to be in New York, so I took my mom to see Once on Broadway," she explained. "We cried our eyes out and fell in love with the show—in particular, the lead actor, Steve Kazee. We thought he was just so talented."

She added, "And funnily enough, my mom had the biggest crush. She couldn't stop saying, 'He's the cutest, so sensitive, so handsome.' She just kept going on and on."

Dewan and her mother decided to wait for the Once cast by the stage door after the show. "We waited for a few minutes, and he appeared. I was pushing her forward to say hi, and Steve and I just had one of those eye-catching moments," Dewan recalled.

Dewan continued, "It was very quick, but it struck us both. It was a moment. My mom and I told him what a great job he did and how it was such an amazing show, and that was it. We both went off into the night. But I never forgot the moment."

As it turns out, it was an unforgettable connection for Kazee as well. "Life went on, as it does," she added. "Many years later, we were in different situations. I was single again, he was single. He messaged me and said something like, 'Hey, I don't know if you remember me, but how are you?' And I was floored. Of course I remembered him. And that moment in 2012."

October 30, 2018: PEOPLE confirms Jenna Dewan and Steve Kazee are dating

Five months after her split from Channing Tatum, sources told PEOPLE that Dewan was dating again, though not in a serious relationship.

"[Jenna] has been on a few dates but doesn't talk about a boyfriend," said the source. They added, "She's in a really great place."

Nearly one month later, PEOPLE confirmed Dewan was in a relationship with Kazee, with sources saying that the pair had "been dating for a couple [of] months and [Dewan was] really happy."

The pair were also photographed looking cozy while celebrating Halloween with friends.

November 2, 2018: Jenna Dewan and Steve Kazee are spotted for the first time in public

Just days after PEOPLE confirmed that Dewan and Kazee were dating, the pair took a trip to Palm Springs, California, where they packed on the PDA.

December 3, 2018: Steve Kazee posts a sweet tribute to Jenna Dewan for her birthday

Kazee made it Instagram official in December 2018 when he posted photobook pictures with Dewan in honor of her 38th birthday. In one of the photos, the couple shares a sweet kiss.

The caption was just as adorable as the photos: "Happy Birthday Jenna! Somehow it feels like my birthday over and over again because I keep getting the gift of you every day. ❤️🐞❤️"

December 20, 2018: Jenna Dewan and Steve Kazee mourn the loss of her dog

Dewan and Kazee supported each other after her dog, Luna, died from cancer.

Kazee posted a photo of the pair on a hike with this heartfelt caption: "The past few days haven't been easy but losing a fur friend never is. There have been tears of sorrow, tears of joy, laughter, longing, and every emotion in-between. Today though...today was a good day."

February 14, 2019: Steve Kazee posts tribute to Jenna Dewan on Valentine's Day

On Valentine's Day 2019, Kazee showed his love for Dewan on Instagram, sharing a close-up photo of the dancer, seemingly, lying in bed.

"Somehow, inexplicably, I've been granted the honor to have this be the person that I get to be side by side with throughout this wild journey we call life," he wrote in the caption. "Jenna I don't know what I did to deserve your love but I will always be so thankful that our lives found their way to each other. Here's looking at you, kid. Happy Valentines Day my love ❤️."

February 18, 2019: Jenna Dewan and Steve Kazee take Dewan's daughter, Everly, to Disneyland

Dewan's very own Prince Charming accompanied her and her daughter Everly to the Happiest Place on Earth. Sources told PEOPLE that "[Steve] is very supportive of [Jenna] as a mom."

"He is amazing with Everly," the source added. "Jenna loves having Steve around. She feels very lucky to be dating him."

April 19, 2019: Jenna Dewan says Steve Kazee is getting her into new hobbies

During an appearance on Ellen, Dewan told guest host John Cena that Kazee got her into wrestling.

"Steve, my boyfriend, is a huge wrestling fan, and he got me, like, so into it," Dewan said. "So much that I watched Wrestlemania by myself. He wasn't even in town, and I watched Wrestlemania!"

June 5, 2019: Jenna Dewan refers to Steve Kazee as "peace"

Dewan shared an adorable photo on Instagram cuddling up to Kazee. The image was the first she ever shared of Kazee on her page. She captioned the picture: "Speaking of peace....❤️."

Around the same time, sources told PEOPLE that things between the two were getting serious.

"So many things had to work for Jenna to even consider dating again. And everything has clicked with Steve," the source said. "There are talks about the future. Jenna loves being a mom and would love to have another baby and a sibling for Everly."

Capitalizing on Dewan's newfound love of wrestling, the pair headed to a WWE Raw event at the Staples Center in L.A. and posed for a photo with wrestler Becky Lynch.

A source close to the couple told PEOPLE, "They really are adorable together and were laughing and shouting with excitement all night."

August 5, 2019: Steve Kazee takes Jenna Dewan on her first N.Y.C. subway ride

While on a trip to N.Y.C., Dewan rode the subway for the first time with Kazee.

"I felt like a real New Yorker for a second," she said of the experience during an appearance on Live with Kelly and Ryan. "I was like, 'I want to ride the subway. I want to see this,'" she said, adding that Kazee, who used to live in N.Y.C., wasn't quite as excited. "He was like, 'This is what we do.'"

"But I made friends," Dewan added, explaining that she encountered a fellow dancer on the subway who performed for the train. "We were up dancing. I had a great time."

September 24, 2019: Jenna Dewan and Steve Kazee celebrate the anniversary of adopting their puppy

In September 2019, Dewan and Kazee celebrated the one-year anniversary of adopting their dog, Cosmo, from the Studio City, California, rescue organization Wagmor. The couple posted photos on Instagram gushing over their fur baby.

"This time last year, Jenna and I adopted this little fella Cosmo into our family," Kazee wrote in the caption. "There are so many wonderful resources out there for finding lifetime homes for animals in need. The next time you are looking for a new fur-ever friend, remember to adopt not shop!"

September 24, 2019: Jenna Dewan and Steve Kazee announce they're expecting

PEOPLE confirmed in late September 2019 that Dewan and Kazee were expecting their first child together.

"We are beyond overjoyed and couldn't be happier to be expanding our family!" the couple told PEOPLE exclusively.

This would be the first child for Kazee and the second for Dewan, who shares daughter Everly with ex-husband Channing Tatum.

Dewan later showed off her growing baby bump on Instagram in an adorable photo snuggling next to her daughter, Everly. She also praised Kazee in the caption.

Kazee echoed Dewan's sentiments on his Instagram, sharing a different photo of the actress in a leopard print dress, cradling her baby bump. "Well ... the news is out," he wrote. "I can't even begin to describe the feelings that I have had since we first learned that Jenna was pregnant! Dewan and Kazee had a date night in L.A. for the WWE's 20th celebration of its Smackdown program. Dewan debuted her baby bump on the red carpet while posing for pictures with Kazee.

December 25, 2019: Jenna Dewan and Steve Kazee celebrate baby's first Christmas (sort of)

Dewan got into the holiday spirit in 2019, posting a photo of herself while standing in front of a decorated tree.

"Best gift ever right here ❤️," she added alongside a photo of her baby bump wrapped in Christmas-themed bows.

It was the couple's first Christmas in their new home.

February 14, 2020: Jenna Dewan and Steve Kazee share Valentine's Day messages

On Valentine's Day, Kazee and Dewan shared sweet photos of each other on their Instagrams, complete with equally loving captions.

February 18, 2020: Jenna Dewan and Steve Kazee announce their engagement

On Feb. 18, 2020, the couple announced their engagement on Instagram with a photo of the couple sharing a kiss. They also posted photos of Dewan's gorgeous ring and a snap of the big moment.

"A lifetime to love and grow with you…you have my heart ❤️" Dewan wrote in her caption.

Dewan gave birth to her second child, her first with Kazee, on March 6, 2020, and both parents shared on Instagram four days later.

May 10, 2020: Steve Kazee posts tribute to Jenna Dewan on Mother's Day

In honor of Dewan's first Mother's Day as a mother of two, Kazee posted a tribute to his fiancée on Instagram, including a photo of Dewan pumping breastmilk with a smile.

"At first glance this may seem like a strange picture to choose to show my love and appreciation for you on this Mother's Day but upon closer inspection you can see why it is the absolute perfect picture for the occasion," Kazee wrote.

He added, "Here you are at 9pm after a long day of feeding one child and wrangling another. Here you are pumping even more milk. Dewan may have had different plans to celebrate her 40th birthday, but she said it was "perfect" nonetheless.

December 12, 2021: Steve Kazee appears on Jenna Dewan's series 'The Rookie' as her husband

Since 2021, Dewan has starred as firefighter Bailey Nune on the ABC procedural The Rookie. Kazee also appeared on an episode on Dec. 12, 2021, as Jason Wyler, the husband of Dewan's character. It marked the first time Dewan and Kazee worked together professionally.

"Yes, that was really fun to watch," she said during an interview on Live with Kelly and Ryan in January 2022. "That's Steve — my fiancé in real life, and they asked him to come on and play my husband, who is a narcissistic abusive psychopath, basically."

Dewan added, "But it was wonderful, I heard from so many people about that portrayal and women who are in abusive relationships and how you unravel from that. They give me so much wonderful, deep stuff to do on that show."

As far as working with Kazee on-screen, Dewan described the experience as "interesting," "fun" and "cool."

"You basically get to do that and come home like, 'Oh, I got to yell at you all day.' Got that out of my system!'" she said.

December 21, 2021: Jenna Dewan says she and Steve Kazee are "not rushing" their wedding

When Dewan was asked about her wedding plans during a virtual appearance on the E! News series Daily Pop, she said that she and Kazee had "kind of paused" due to the surge in COVID-19 cases.

"We're gonna take our time, we're not rushing, and we're gonna kinda see how the next year shakes out and go from there," she said.

However, Dewan admitted it was hard to play the waiting game.

May 27, 2022: Jenna Dewan and Steve Kazee collaborate for a performance on 'Come Dance with Me'

On May 27, 2022, Dewan and Kazee shared a special moment during an episode of the CBS reality competition series, Come Dance with Me, where Dewan served as a judge. Kazee appeared on the show and performed "Falling Slowly" from the musical Once, in which he starred and won a Tony Award for Best Actor in 2012. Dewan also participated in the number.

"Steve hasn't performed "Falling Slowly" since singing it on Broadway, and we all thought it would be an incredibly special moment to have him sing while I danced," she said of their performance. "We love being able to share in a memory together for our children. So they will always have something to look back upon and have of us together."

January 17, 2024: Jenna Dewan announces she and Steve Kazee are expecting their second child together

Dewan revealed that she is expecting her third baby — her second with Kazee — in January 2024. In a video she shared on Instagram, Kazee is in the bathroom, playing guitar and singing to his fiancée, who's in the bathtub. Slowly, she reveals her baby bump peeking out from the bubbles in her bath.

"Think if I make @stevekazee serenade me every night the baby will get his voice??" she wrote in her caption.
