Arsène glared at his companions, and internally wondered if it would be within reason to alarm Napoleon by dropping from the ceiling dressed all in black during a formal event. Unfortunately, he recalled that it was impossible to alarm Napoleon, and contented himself with jumping to his feet with a huff, and attacking Byron with a pillow.
“Have something variety, chéri! You already hit me with a pillow this evening, and you are getting feathers in my hair!”
“You deserve to have feathers in your hair. If I am a spider, then you needs must be a pigeon.”
Napoleon laughed, and rescued a map from being caught up in Arsène’s attack.
“Why a pigeon? I would have thought Byron was some type of bat.”
“He’s a pigeon due to the fact that although as an individual he looks very elegant, he has debased himself, and is now to be found in every city, in one form or another.”
Byron gets drunk, and says something he probably shouldn’t have. Chaos inevitably ensues, and Arsène gets stressed and cross. Tilsit is happening in the background.
