Jean Porter, 1940s MGM movie starlet, has died at the age of 95, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Her daughter Rebecca Dmytryk told The Hollywood Reporter that Porter died Saturday of natural causes.
Porter was married to writer-director Edward Dmytryk. Dmytryk was one of the Hollywood Ten, the most well-known blacklisted group in the movie industry during McCarthyism.
Porter appeared in many movies in the 1940s and early 1950s. She starred opposite Hollywood legends such as Mickey Rooney and Humphrey Bogart. She played Lou Costello’s girlfriend in “Abbott and Costello in Hollywood,” and starred as a doomed love interest in the 1951 film noir “Cry Danger.”

Porter was born in Cisco, Texas in 1922. Living in Hollywood at the age of 12, she was discovered at a dance school. She started out in bit parts in films and then was signed to a contract with MGM.
Her last screen appearances came in 1961 on television in episodes of “Sea Hunt” and “77 Sunset Strip.”
Porter wrote several books including a biography of jazz musician Jess Stacy.
Survivors include her daughters Victoria and Rebecca and stepson Michael.
