I came across this fresco on the face of a big utility box at the corner of rue de l'Estrapade and rue Clotilde in the 5th arrondissement near the Pantheon. It is one of many depictions of illustrious men and women done outside by street artist C215 in conjunction with a special exhibition at the Pantheon in 2018. Unlike many of the others, however, this one is in an extremely visible place in a quiet area.
General Jean Lannes (1769 to 1809) served in the French Revolutionary Wars and the Napoleonic Wars. A personal friend of Napoleon, he died in the Battle of Aspern-Essling and is buried in the Pantheon.

A l'intersection des rues Clotilde et de l'Estrapade, dans le 5ème arrondissement, vous découvrirez sur une armoire postale, cette belle fresque rendant hommage Maréchal d'Empire, Duc de Montebello, Jean Lannes. Il a combattu aux campagnes d’Italie et d’Égypte et mourra à la bataille d’Essling en 1809. Il entrera au Panthéon en 1810. C'est le peintre Christian Guémy alias "C215" qui a réalisé cette oeuvre en juillet 2018, en même temps qu'une vingtaine d'autres portraits d'hommes et femmes célèbres, tous répartis dans cet arrondissement. Vous pouvez venir en RER B station "Luxembourg" ou métro ligne 10, station "Cardinal Lemoine".
