Scottsdale police arrest man suspected of shooting at car, injuring teenager
Scottsdale police arrested a man Monday evening on suspicion of shooting and injuring a teenage boy.
Police believe the suspect, 42-year-old Jason Robert Moore, shot at a car near Granite Reef and Chaparral roads Monday evening after a woman complained to police that her ex-husband was chasing her in his vehicle. She was driving with their 15-year-old son and 13-year-old daughter, police said.
The boy was struck by gunfire and seriously injured, spokesman Sgt. Ben Hoster said. No one else was injured in the shooting.
Moore fired three bullets into the vehicle with a semiautomatic handgun at close range, striking his son with one bullet in the lower leg, according to court documents.
After the shooting, records say Moore's ex-wife drove away, but he followed her in his black Chevy Tahoe. Then he rammed his vehicle into the back of her car at the intersection of Hayden and Chaparral roads.
The woman continued to flee from Moore until he stopped following her, police detailed in court documents.
Hoster said members of the Scottsdale SWAT team arrested Moore around 9:30 p.m. Monday near Indian School and Granite Reef roads.
According to court documents, police conducted a search warrant at multiple locations and recovered a handgun and ammo. The ammo matched the shell casings found at the scene of the shooting.
Moore could face multiple counts of attempted murder, aggravated assault and drive-by shooting, according to police.
