When Isabel FitzGilbert de Clare Heiress of Pembroke was born in 1172, in Pembroke Castle, Pembrokeshire, Wales, her father, Richard de Clare 2nd Earl of Pembroke, was 42 and her mother, Countess Eva Macmurogh Kavanagh, was 27. She married William Marshal 1st Earl of Pembroke on 8 August 1189, in London, England. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 6 daughters. She died on 11 March 1220, in Pembroke, Pembrokeshire, Wales, at the age of 48, and was buried in Tintern Abbey, Tintern, Monmouthshire, Wales.
