When Isabel Marshal was born on 9 October 1200, in Pembroke Castle, Pembrokeshire, Wales, her father, Sir William Marshal, was 54 and her mother, Isabel de Clare, was 27. She married Gilbert de Clare on 9 October 1217, in Tewkesbury Abbey, Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, England. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 4 daughters. She died on 16 January 1239, in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, England, at the age of 38, and was buried in Beaulieu Abbey, Beaulieu, Hampshire, England.
