Oasis frontman Noel Gallagher's custom 'Silver Sparkle' guitar is set to sell for up to half a million pounds in a memorabilia auction taking place on Friday.

The Gibson Les Paul Florentine guitar is just one of several iconic pieces of music history being put on sale at the Propstore Entertainment auction taking place in London from 3 to 6 November.

Noel described the guitar as 'the best in the world' and was used plenty of times during 1997 and 1998 for recordings and live performances.

It is one of his primary guitars from the Oasis era and is believed to be 'the most extensively used and documented Noel Gallagher guitar outside of his personal collection'. It also comes with a white 'Oasis' stencil on the protective case.

Also up for grabs is the written lyrics of their hit ballad Wonderwall, written by Noel, 55, which could set back the lucky bidder by around £6,000.

The 1995 song is likely to be the most popular amongst the other pieces of handwritten lyrics from the Manchester rock band being sold.

This includes Champagne Supernova, the final track on the band's second album (What's The Story) Morning Glory?.

A tarnished metal zip fastening runs down the front of the jacket, and the hood also has a similar zip running down its centre.

The rehearsal notes used by the Oasis guitarist to remember the words to the 1995 hit are part of a music and movie auction that begins this afternoon.

Other bits from the entertainment industry which are up for grabs is the Bedford ice cream van which Britpop band Blur used on their Magic Whip tour in 2015.

Another piece likely to be well sought-after is the 1970 licence for Elvis Presley's Colt revolver and a Beretta automatic pistol.
