Oasis’ Liam Gallagher On Keith Richards’ Memoir, ‘It’s Full Of Sh*t’

In a recent chat with Apple Music’s Matt Wilkinson, former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher criticized the Rolling Stones icon Keith Richards‘ autobiography and explained why he could never write one.

It’s common for renowned musicians to seek solace and shelter in drugs since they have the money and access. The situation almost got out of control in the early to late ’60s, and the Rolling Stones lead guitarist Keith Richards had his own troubled journey with substance abuse. The rocker has been through a lot due to his addiction, as he was even imprisoned multiple times.

It seems substance addiction didn’t only affect Richards and his contemporaries but continued in the ’90s as Liam Gallagher recently disclosed his own experiences with a drug-infused lifestyle. The singer expressed that his memory didn’t function as well as his brother, Noel Gallagher, since substance usage had affected his memory.

Liam Gallagher expressed:

”There’s a lot of people like, you know, Our Kid [Noel Gallagher] for one; they can sit down and talk about the night, [saying] ‘He’s like that,’ for four hours. I mean, you’ve got a great memory, that’s something nice. But I can’t remember because I was getting high.”

As Gallagher complained about his memory lapse, the singer mentioned other rock stars who wrote detailed and well-narrated memoirs while also using drugs. Liam stated that he couldn’t publish a memoir, not because of the literary process but because drug usage has severely affected his ability to recollect.

The rocker then mentioned Keith Richards, who in 2010 published his autobiography, ‘Life.’ In his book, the Stones icon recalled various events from his personal life and long career. Yet, Gallagher wasn’t really content with Richard’s memoir. The singer wasn’t sure how Keith was able to recall everything so well with the guitarist’s reputation as an avid drug addict. Gallagher called out the guitarist and described his book as ‘sh*t.’

The former Oasis frontman’s take on memoirs:

”All these rock stars doing books, mentioning names, and I was like… I wouldn’t have a clue how to write a book not because of the writing, but because of the memory and all that. Even Keith Richards, you know, he has obviously done drugs but I don’t know, man. They’re all full of sh*t, I think. So, no, I can’t remember. I don’t want to remember.”

When it comes to speaking his mind, Liam is known to be quite open and forward. The rocker’s suspicious approach against Keith Richards and other fellow musicians who wrote about their substance-infused lives can be considered relatively easy to emphasize. Gallagher is currently on tour, and his next performance is set to take place in the United Arab Emirates.
