Imperfect Love (The 4ever Series Book 1) Kindle Edition

Two people begrudgingly perfect for each other, creates the ideal recipe for imperfect love.

At 24 years old, Holly Scallanger has the perfect life. Everything a girl could want; a beautiful man, a stunning home, as well as being in the midst of preparing for the wedding of her dreams. This all vanishes the night she catches her fiancé, Brandon Morgan, in bed with her worst nightmare, Donna Sinclair, just a week before Holly is set to walk down the aisle.

Attempting to recover from his betrayal, Holly swears off the affections of men in order to pick up the pieces of her crumbling life. Unfortunately, meeting Jake 'Hooligan' Peters is not part of her plan. The tall, dark-haired and handsome as hell med student, sweeps Holly away from the pain of her past and reveals to her the bright future that lies ahead. That is, until she falls pregnant just as Jake begins his internship at P&E; his family's hospital.

Will this love at first sight lead her to the fairytale she has always craved? Or, will she fall victim to a betrayal of the heart yet again?

Q&A With author Isabella White

Q Can you tell us a bit more about the 4Ever series?

A. The 4Ever series follows Holly Scallanger, 24, who just found out her fiancé cheated on her. She leaves him a week before their wedding and swears off men. But just like Murphy’s Law, Jake Peters enters her life. He is perfect in every way, over-the-top gorgeous, clever, and in his final year of medical school. She falls madly in love and then her life completely shifts around when she falls pregnant with Jake’s child. They split up because he isn’t ready for the baby. It’s not a very happy ending in this one, but the series has a happy ending. The second novel takes place 4 years later. Holly herself enrolled in Medical school. She just finished and now she has to start her internship at a hospital close to where Jake is a neurosurgeon. She finally bumps into him and it ends with the truth being revealed. The last one… well, it will come out soon. But we finally do get the happy ending we wanted in the first novel.

Q. I recently saw via your website that you are working on the What If series? What are those novels about?

A. The What If series is just that. In the 4Ever series readers will realize just how small Jake and Holly’s world is. That they both know people who are very important in Holly’s life and that it was basically a miracle that their paths didn't cross earlier. So the What if series are alternative versions of book one and two. Two of the novels are an alternative ending for Imperfect Love, the first novel, and most of the others are alternative to Secret Love or alternative ways that takes place in Secret Love for the truth to come out faster. There will be seven stories in this series.

Q. What is the order to read the series?

Imperfect Love
Secret Love
Endless Love
For ME – Jake’s version of Imperfect Love.

The What if Series can be read in any order, but would be better to understand if you finished reading Imperfect Love and Secret Love. They are not standalones at all, but an added bonus.

This book was surprising. I loved how they met while on a camping trip and they just continued from their. His family members were so much fun except for his mother never imagined her to be so evil. It was a great book that kept me guessing.

3.5 stars. I liked a lot of things about this book - the storyline, characters and the emotions elicited from the writing. However, it could've used some finer editing and proofreading to make it even stronger. Regardless, I found myself intrigued by Holly and Jake because they had such a natural dynamic that was also intense. Both of them have pasts that they'd like to forget or move on from. Holly has a lot of insecurities whereas Jake is rather confident, but they were so good for each other even though Holly always had doubts because of the stark contrasts between them. The majority of the book is focused on Holly, so while Jake is a main character, he didn't really show much of a vulnerable side. He was the guy that was just about perfect in every way. I would've liked to have seen more of that in him because it's clear that he hasn't always had a smooth life and be able to delve into those deeper aspects. As far as where the story leads and then ends, it gets rather dramatic and had my full attention to want to continue with the next book.

The story starts out with Holly Scallanger breaking off her engagement and marriage to this rich guy Brandon Morgan. She was living with him and was going to marry him the next week when she found an email in which her fiance' was telling this other woman how much he loved her. In fact, he was still having sex with her. So she packed up her bags and left since she was living in his house. She had to leave because she knew she would take him back.
She went to stay with her friend Bernie and her husband Leo and their son Sam.
She has sworn off men but she finally goes out with this friend of Leonard's and even though Bernie had told him about her history somehow he felt the need to kiss her like they were interested in one another. Anyways she meets Jake Peters one weekend when Bernie and Leo take her with them to this event called Band Bash. Holly breaks this guys nose who would not take no for an answer. Jake takes her to P&E his mother's hospital. Jake is drawn to her and eventually they get into a heavy make out session. That starts their relationship.
They both were so close that she was spending more time with him and even though he was in medical school they couldn't get enough of one another.
This story made me happy, It made me sad. I laughed, cried was so on edge sometimes that I thought it's going to make me throw something. I loved this story and I just went ahead and bought the other two books in this trilogy.
I highly recommend this book. Just know that this book is a trilogy and so their is a cliffhanger and one you wouldn't expect.

A beautiful love story. Had to shed a tear and sniffles more than once. This couple found a once in a lifetime kinda love which Jake's mother is unfortunately hell bent on destroying! She sadly succeeds and the results are catastrophic. Holly goes through a horrendous life threatening pregnancy and sadly looses one of her twins a few days after they were born. The couple bumps into each other five years later and there's a lot misunderstandings because of Jake's mother's web of lies. It's clear though that despite that they cannot stay away from each other, their still sizzles. I have one gripe with the series though. I hate books that spills over to the next and the author takes too long to get to the next one. I noticed that there's almost a year between imperfect love and secret love. Thankfully I only saw the first in February, got it on the 8th by the 12th I got the second one. It looks like the third one is on the way and I have no clue when it's coming out. I almost took away a star because of that. I hate being left hanging, that's why I try by all means to read books that have no sequels. I'm a fast reader and patience is not my gift 🙈

I got this book for free and really enjoyed it, but, I generally stay away from books that aren't stand alone and I missed that this was not. I was really irritated when I got to the end and realized it wasn't really the end. Now I either wonder if they end up together or I buy the book.
Holly just came off a breakup and swore off men, but the chemistry was undeniable between them. She ends up pregnant and Jake's domineering and controlling mother manages to break them up and holly runs again. While I enjoyed the story, the whole storyline was a little unbelievable. So if you want to read a good story and don't care how it ends without buying the next book, this is the one.

I really loved this book. The romance between Jake and Holly is beautifully written with a lot of heat. Holly is about to marry Brandon when she finds him in bed with another woman. The story involves her devastation and eventual rediscovery of love. Jake is gorgeous, wealthy, and unfortunately the son of psycho-mom, who tries to dominate and micromanage her children's lives. I loved the characters and the story is very engaging. I can't wait to read more. I need more of Jake's perspective. Highly recommended.

She had been jilted by her fiancee. She found him with another pregnant a week before the wedding. She goes through a time where she hated men. But when she least ever it she found love again. But will he be there when she truly needs him the most? When she finds out that she is pregnant will he stay when things get complicated? There is a second book after this one. So no HFN or HEAs.

The storyline was well written, the plot flowed easily throughout the entire book and the characters were so well detailed that I remained totally engaged until the turn of the very last page! I really enjoyed the interaction and chemistry between Holly and Jake! This book does end in a cliffhanger!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Love Story

This series is one of the best books I have read and is in my top 10. A story beautifully written, the story touches me. I've read the books twice, I haven't read the “what if series”, because I don't want to obscure the story as it is written. What I would like to ask Isabella is a POV from Jake, his side of the story. This story is full of love, emotions and everything some people go through in real life. Sometimes you make bad decisions and sometimes you have bad mothers in-law

2.0 out of 5 stars no real cliffhanger but not satisfying at all, too many things unanswered

SPOILER
To me this book doesn't really know what it wants to be...starting off as an average love story the way they often do, being cheated on shortly before her wedding, finding love somewhere else, a "little" complication in between leading to a satisfying closure.
So far so good, but this book is not.
If I buy anything like this, I want to have what I bargained for. So, simple love story, simple plot, happy ending. I like surprises but I don't like it if the genre changes! With this book you start out in "Little Women" and find yourself in "Tess" (I used those two high quality examples for literature not because of quality reference but because of the feeling a book leaves you in). I didn't go for the drama that came, an immature one by the way. After pages and pages of telling us how much the newly found couple is head over heels in love (being irresponsible right from the start), everything should end with a short conversation with his Mum??? He is 27 for crying out loud. Not enough, she believes everything she hears, endangers not only her own life, but the life of her children??? What kind of Mum would do that??? She breaks up all her social bonds (even with her best friend - all the women out there having a best friend know, that it takes more than one guy), going back to a father who had abandoned not only her but her entire family after a tragedy, bonding with a Mum who has not been there for ages??? Yeah, sure. Sometimes those inner monologues sound like taken from a psychiatrist's textbook, giving us clues we need, to be able to believe her next steps, because the story alone can't manage that. This writer is not bad, she would have just needed an editor giving her some pieces of good advice. LIKE: Stick to one genre, hold your red lines in place and tie the knot in the end!
I couldn't believe the way the book ended, throwing in a new character ten pages before it does and not answering millions of new questions, forcing me to buy the next book...not nice! And as I am sure this is exacty the way the second book is going to end as well, baiting me for the third, I'll go for the clean cut. I would have loved to find out about the couple, but not like this. As far as I see it, the third one could suddenly reveal that the Doc was a vampire. There is no way the two can ever form any kind of believable bond after what happened. You lost me there, sorry. I think this was a complete waste of time. The two stars are for the original idea, the way the book started out.
