Schonnrunn Children’s Museum is a very interesting place for kids that wish to walk down in the history and experience unique objects. The place is right next to the main palace and offers a variety of room decorations, toys and other sorts of objects that were used in the royal nursery.
It worth visiting and it doesn’t take longer than 30-40min.
At the main entrance they have a nice variety of royal garments for both kids and parents to try out for free.

We visited in March with our 2 kids of 12 and 8. Whilst it was interesting to see how children would have lived in the palace back in the day, it was really a little disappointing overall. I felt the entrance cost was too high considering what you got. The sensory experiences were basically limited to shaking a few pots to release a few smells in the kitchen part of the exhibition which takes you essentially from room to room throught a small section of the palace as it shows you life in those times by room (bedroom, kitchen, changing room, education room etc). We were finished in about 25 minutes. I personally found it interesting to step back in time and experience how they lived then, but would have paid at most half the actual cost had a I known.

We spent 2 happy hours here with our 5 year old daughter. At the entrance both children and parents can dress up in elegant period costumes. There was a huge choice of different fabrics and colours and accessories. You can then visit different rooms within Schonbrunn Palace. In every room the children are able to learn actively and have lots of fun at the same time. Our daughter particularly liked playing with the dolls and their accessories. She enjoyed the beautiful dining room with all the play food and an elegant table. As a suggestion, it may be helpful to have more staff available to answer questions and engage with the children in the rooms. Some traditional gentle Viennese music, such as a waltz, would be lovely in the background to enhance the atmosphere. When we return to Vienna, we will come back here.

We visited the Children’s Museum at Schönbrunn Palace last week and it was an awesome experience for my girl, who’s 6. This part of Schönbrunn Palace helps children to make an idea , though play, of how things where in old times. They also can try different costumes of princesses and princes. We had a lot of fun!

We went to Vienna with our daughter recently and had heard that the palace tour could be rather "boring" for a 3 year old (alot of rooms with desks)...not so interesting for a young child. Having previously seen Versailles and other European palaces, i had no problem skipping the inside of this one. Instead, we went to the children's museum at Schonbrunn which was fantastic! Its within the palace so you still see rooms and the children experience hands on, what it was like for palace children. Lots of things to touch, play with, dress up. We combined it with a day at the Zoo on the same grounds and then the Magic Flute at the Marionette Theatre. Our daughter loved it and so did we!

There is not much to see in this museum for the price you pay. Even though I had young children, it wasn't worth it.

If you want to get cultural with your young kids, but know that if you go to Schönbrunn Palace you’ll be chasing them out of Sisi’s bed beyond the red ropes, you’ll find that the Childrens museum is a good alternative! It gives children things to do, and meanwhile you can learn them about daily life (clothing, bathtime, cooking, playing) in the palace. We especially loved to dress up! You can do it at the beginning of the visit or at the end.

Beautiful museum, such a great fun! Even the kids (11, 7 & 3 yo) loved it! We were mesmerised by the figures, some of them are so realistic.. Would recommend anyone!

It is a great museum/activity for children. A most adorable way to show them the marvellous lives of princes and princesses and how hard could it also be to be a member of an imperial family.

We visited the children'museum and our kids 7 and 8 both loved it...we learnt a lot about the everyday life of the young princesses and princes and travelled in time through their dresses and clothes...if you have children it worths visiting otherwise i think you must choose something else.
