After 19 seasons on air, Ellen DeGeneres has announced the end of The Ellen DeGeneres Show. The star informed her staff yesterday (May 11) that the upcoming season would be the last. The final season will air in 2022, with new episodes still releasing this year.

“When you’re a creative person, you constantly need to be challenged – and as great as this show is, and as fun as it is, it’s just not a challenge anymore,” DeGeneres told The Hollywood Reporter.

DeGeneres has announced she’ll be explaining the end of the series tomorrow, May 13, with her friend Oprah Winfrey. Still, the show must go on today. The stars of Mom (Allison Janney, Jaime Pressly, Kristen Johnston, Beth Hall, and Mimi Kennedy) will be visiting, along with singer Machine Gun Kelly.
