Henry Mitchell Gore

Henry Mitchell Gore, 80 of Leland passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Gore was born in Whiteville, North Carolina on February 24, 1941 and was son of the late Mitchell M. Gore and Cecil Hardie Gore. He was a retired firefighter where he served 36 years with Wilmington Fire Department and served as Battalion Chief. After retirement he was employed as a driver by Parkway of Wilmington. He was also a member of Long Leaf Baptist Church in Wilmington for many years.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Christine Long Gore of the home; son, Michael Gore of Leland; sisters, Brenda Grooms and husband Paul of Georgia and Vicki Dukes of Lake Waccamaw; and two grandchildren, Hailey Gore and Makayla Gore.
Funeral services will be Saturday, January 15, 2022 at twelve o’clock noon at Long Leaf Baptist Church, 317 Shipyard Boulevard, Wilmington, North Carolina with Reverend Joshua Riley and Reverend Jason Benton officiating. Burial will follow in Manley Bennett Cemetery, Calabash with Firemen’s Honors.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from eleven o’clock until twelve o’clock at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
