Career
From 1892, she hosted a literary salon for intellectuals in Paris. She had a relationship with Poincaré from 1901. The couple married in a civil ceremony in 1904, and had a church ceremony shortly after his election to the presidency in 1913.
She was exposed to some slander because of her previous marriages.
She also accompanied her spouse to the war areas. In 1917, a scandal occurred, when a runaway gorilla broke in to the presidential garden and chased her up a tree.
