After completing her secretarial course, she was employed by Kurt von Schroder and later Schutzstaffel in Berlin. In 1934, Hedwig met Heinrich Himler, and she became his secretary in 1936.
In 1938, Himler confessed his love for Hedwig. Hedwig did not start seeing him immediately until the following year. When Himmler’s wife, Margaret Himmler, found out about the relationship, she was frustrated and bitter.
