      The Green Inferno

      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

The Green Inferno may not win writer-director Eli Roth many new converts, but fans of his flair for gory spectacle should find it a suitably gruesome diversion.

R-T T The green hell is just a mixture of blood and screams that does not deserve attention Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/22/24 Full Review Cluedo Great Movie, kinda like cannibal Holocaust, of course there is a lot of gore but overall it was a great movie with an important message Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/24 Full Review Meg G The first 30 minutes of the film are hard to get through because the acting is just atrocious - feels like the start to a bad porno. However, the horror and gore in the second half is amazing. felt uncomfortable and worried for the characters the rest of the time, which made up partially for the acting in the first bit. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/16/24 Full Review Subterranean B Il colonialismo bianco e la devastazione ambientale raccontati tramite l'ennesimo escamotage narrativo del fantomatico cannibalismo esotico. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/13/23 Full Review Patrick C Pretty much exactly what you'd expect from Eli Roth. It's disgusting and in really poor taste but I was never bored. I'm ashamed to say I enjoyed myself a bit, couldn't really look away. But it's also pretty trash. Just so you know this is even gorier than I expected. Puts Hostel and Cabin Fever to shame. The only thing I've seen this brutal is Terrifier. But I didn't find myself closing my eyes or looking away. The effects were pretty good. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/18/23 Full Review Jay P The fact that this movie upsets Leftists even though the ending was terrible because it was to appease them, is even funnier, and therefore, this movie is awesome. Especially the scenes with the vegan. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/14/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Jason Bailey Flavorwire It's mostly just sad - not because Roth takes such a sharp scalpel to the social justice movement, but because he swings a baseball bat, and misses by a mile. May 3, 2016 Full Review Mark Kermode Observer (UK) Flat-pack acting, frat-boy screenwriting (the portrayal of activists is spitefully dumb) and retro gore combine with smug throwback neocolonialist racism and unfunny jokes about diarrhoea, dope and Scooby-Doo. Rated: 1/5 Feb 14, 2016 Full Review David Jenkins Little White Lies es, Roth's film has its expected moments of high transgression, but you can never get away from the fact that all these references have been attached to the most hackneyed teen slasher narrative imaginable. Rated: 1/5 Feb 12, 2016 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review The Green Inferno provides some momentary shocks, but it’s as heavy-handed as anything on Roth’s résumé. Rated: 2/4 May 27, 2022 Full Review Jason Adams My New Plaid Pants More goofy than it ever manages scary Jul 2, 2021 Full Review Emma Wolfe SpookyAstronauts This movie tackles a surprising and different kind of storyline yet it is quite predictable. It won't go down is one of my favorites of the year but it was exciting and I found it very amusing and entertaining. Rated: 7/10 Jun 1, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews
