The Evil Dead meets Scream as an evil professor, through an ancient staff and a book of incantation, possesses the bodies of a group of fraterity and sorority pledges during a night of "hazing" activities in an abandoned mansion. When the students meet one grisly death after another, the survivors finally realize it's the professor who is possessing their friends and killing them all off. Now none of them trust each other-- is it their friends or puppets of the professor that they're hanging with? Somone better figure it out quick... or none of them will make it through the hellish night of The Hazing!

Horror comedy taking massive influence from Night of the Demons and The Evil Dead, with a sprinkling of Lovecraft on top. Gets off to a good start - we are introduced to a dodgy professor who has obviously been dabbling in the occult by way of an old book, before it moves on to the main plot which focuses on five college students doing a fraternity pledge in the local haunted house. It's all highly derivative and not very original - but it's all done with such a big smile on its face that it's difficult not to enjoy it. This is a cute fun totally mindless movie that MUCH more comedy than horror and that’s ok for a Saturday evening when you really need to chill because you celebrated the Fridayness a little too hard.
I’m not saying anyone should run out and find this, but it is a super watchable fun movie with heavy early 00’s Full Moon vibes which I very much fuck with. This is a fun callback to 80s horror flicks like Night of the Demons and Evil Dead. It isn't breaking new ground but does it really need to? This is a fun and dumb horror comedy that never once has an identity crisis. The blood and gore are not bad but the demon makeup is really good. This is an enjoyable watch set in a haunted house with demons and a gateway to hell.

I loved this. "The Hazing" aka "Dead Sacred" is a loving tribute to the "Evil Dead" franchise and it is not all subtle about it. However it definitely does enough of it's own thing to be distinct and not tedious, as something like this very easily could be.
I am completely surprised because I went in to this blind and was expecting it to be total shit. This isn't a super high quality film on like a technical aspect. The Visual FX are god awful, hilariously so in fact, but it never took me out of the movie because it's just so dang fun to watch. The practical FX are pretty solid however. with the tag line "live through this" i thought this was gonna have a totally Hole soundtrack but I was wrong.
sorority horror is one of my weaknesses and with a Night of the Demons feel I was very into this, especially when the kids started getting possessed, it's got a goofy sense of humour.

Decent mid 2000s B-horror flick about pledges doing a scavenger hunt and end up stealing a magic book from Brad Dourif, which unleashes some demon shit in a pseudo Evil Dead style.
Followable with good effects and the required seck-z-ness needed for a film of this caliber, The Hazing is absolutely watchable if nothing else. Pair with The Necronomicon but not the real one, the one at Barnes & Nobles that's always 40% off.

3. We are about halfway to Halloween and it happens to be my favorite holiday. Watch a movie that takes place on or around Halloween.
Brad Dourif slumming it here but he's not in this enough to really carry anything. Other familiar faces are Tiffany Shepis and Parry Shen but otherwise it's a bunch of people I didn't recognize. It's a painfully unfunny horror comedy here with very little to write home about unless you like all the standard cliche type characters that don't feel realistic. Terrible CGI has a place in bad films but here it didn't work for me.
