- Jon P2 contributionsWe wanted a private room with a lunchtime carvery for a very special occasion. The guest of honour also requested a “proper home-made” apple pie with two cloves in each serving. We needed to amend the date due to circumstances.
The venue was amazing, the tables had been set out and dressed to perfection, we had our own private patio area where guests could enjoy the sunshine.
The food was delicious, well cooked, beautifully presented and served.
The Apple Pie had 2 cloves in each slice - amazing attention to detail!
The wait staff were extremely attentive and very accommodating.

That isn’t the case in Harpenden, there are actual farmers! The Town Council seem to keep a firm grip on who can have a stall and it pays off as every stall is full of something wonderful and there is such a range. There is a definite bias towards food but also wood crafts, some jewellery and homewares. There is a lot of choice when it comes to meat, with several local farms and some from further a field present. The Oslinc stall is work a visit for an ostrich burger straight from the grill and a selection of exotic burgers to take home (including crocodile, wild boar and zebra). There is one fish shall and it is always busy, so get there early as if the queue is anything to go by, this is decent seafood. There is local honey, curry pastes, fresh dim sum and reportedly the best bacon butty around (I personally don’t agree). There is always plenty of fresh produce, I had asparagus and watercress (both local) when it was in season. The room was perfect. Beth Curant was so helpful, responsive and met all our requests from the first contact until the. The staff on the day were brilliant. So friendly, helpful, the service was attentive and professional. The food was really delicious. We could not have had a better experience and I can not thank the staff enough. It is just off the High Street and very close to the War Memorial.
