About
Hank Williams Museum in Montgomery, AL is a favorite destination for music fans. He is a treasure to the City of Montgomery and the State of Alabama, and we are paying tribute to the life and accomplishments of this magnificent legend whose name survives in a way that is unique in the history of Music. It is amazing after so many years that there are still things to be said...song to be sung. Year by year since Hank's death in 1953, the real impact his songs made on American Music becomes more evident. His lifelong fans continue, and new admirers are added with each generation. Hank Williams crowded a lot of living into twenty-nine years. It is safe to say, perhaps Hank Williams said all he had to say. We are proud to say that all of the artifacts are authentic. Exhibits include the 1952 Cadillac in which he died, 17 stage suits including Nudie , custom made boots, cowboy hats, tie collection, furniture, portraits, records, horse saddle, piano, awards, rare photos, family history and personal film footage. Experience the history of the first country music superstar and see how Hank Williams transformed country music and sowed the seeds of what was to become American Music, blues, rockabilly and even rock and roll.

Jeff Petty and the staff were incredible! Truly, the best stewards for the legacy of Hank Williams. You can tell they are personally interested and invested. The museum can take an hour if you read it all—and they have original Williams-family owned items as well as the Cadillac he passed away in. If you are a fan, you will like it.

There is metered street parking in the area. It is small but jam packed with all things Hank Williams. There are posters, photos, records, costumes, and much more. There is a gift shop. COVID-19: The staff of 1 was masked and visitors were expected to be masked and follow social distancing protocols.

This museum is as complete with its history as any in the U.S.
Informative, entertaining and as any "Family Story" you will experience. Perhaps family and descendants of friends and associates telling the stories are the reason, and the outcomes are wonderful. If you like Country Music, you must visit. If you do not like country, stay away because you will be converted when you visit...and that is a good thing!

I was disappointed with the lack of a story line of his life. There was so much on his death but I couldn’t follow his life. Not in chronological order around the building. I had to go to Wikipedia to fill in the details of his life and story.
Lots to read - lots of memorabilia - we were done after about an hour. If you’re a Hank fan you’ll like it but not a must see. And wear your mask!!

First, I am a huge fan so my experience my be somewhat biased. But, I loved this museum. So many cool things to look at and the lady at the front Desk, Mandy, was super nice and helpful. There are no photos allowed in the Museum, but, if you purchase a Hank frame in the Gift Shop the curator will allow you to take a picture for the frame of you along side the classic Car Hank passed away in. Sorry, but there was no way I was not going to take advantage of this opportunity. Totally worth it. Highly Recommended, especially if you are a Hank Fan.

I just wanted to say to Management that I had your Museum on my trip list to Montgomery. However, after reading ALL the Management responses to even good reviews, I have removed you from my trip. As Management you should know that not every review requires your response. Many of your responses were down right rude and for that, we won’t be visiting. I do this for everyone’s safety, because if my husband was treated as some of your customers have been, I can’t guarantee he wouldn’t come unglued! We are huge Hank fans, but not a fan of the attitude of management. For the sake of the museum and for the memory of Hank, please work on your management skills

I’m at a loss for words except trip advisor encourages a response to all reviews.
I appreciate all reviews and take to heart some that may not be so good. We strive to make everyone’s experience a good one. We always hope you have a memorable time here.
Good or bad we try to respond accordingly. If someone has a need all you have to do is ask and we try to accommodate. But don’t go out the door seeming happy, without a mention of a problem and then write about it in a negative way.
I truly hope you will reconsider your visit to Montgomery to visit the Hank Williams Museum. It is an amazing collection of his things.
Thank you.

No photography inside the exhibit area. Copyright issues. Many items have never been seen outside the museum. We have several photos on trip advisor to view and I will upload more later.
No talking or texting on cell phones.
Photos in lobby only.

I would love to bring my 73 year old handicap father to visit the museum. Is there close parking for handicap? He can walk but gets tired very easily. How long is the tour? Is there resting places for him if needed? thank you

Hi and yes we have places inside to sit. I'm sorry for my response being late. Been out of town. The tour last as long as you want. You can go have lunch and come back on the same ticket in the same day if you'd like to break up the visit. Usually it takes 1 hour but if you like to read everything, it could take 2. Now here is the hard part. Parking is on the street and is metered. There are spaces in our front and usually can be easily gotten M-F around 9:30 am. A few handicap spaces are across the street. The meters are 2 hours and cost .50 an hour. Takes dimes, nickles and quarters. You can feed up to 2 hours.
