Prior to my arrival I had called the Hammersmith directly Jasmine and Ellie were so nice and helpful. It was a great location for us lots of shops nearby and a Weatherspoons at the end of the hotel it was perfect. We are looking to possibly book a trip to London next year when the girls finish 6th form as a treat, and I would stay here again and highly recommend
The room was quiet and the bed was comfortable though. But I won't stay again until the building work is finished and other guests report that the quality overall has picked up
The rooms are small but adequate, cosy and equipped with everything one will expect from a budget business hotel like internet connectivity, comfortable bed, a TV and a tea/coffee maker set. What I liked is that the hotel provides skimmed milk sachets instead of dairy powder that made the coffee taste better.
The hotel premises, mainly the front area, is under the renovation. Although it didn’t cause any nuisance such as noise, it did mean entering the hotel was bit challenging through a side door especially while carrying heavy luggage. Breakfast hall was shut too, but hotel ensured room delivery of grab n go breakfast in the room as per prescribed timing. Breakfast spread was limited like cereals, croissant, danish, fruits etc. I would have preferred hot/warm breakfast although I what they offered wasn’t bad either.
Overall I quiet liked the place and found it to be value for money. Staff interaction, whenever we needed one, was pleasant and professional. I will not mind choosing this place next time I am visiting for business. Hopefully the renovated place would be ready by then to really leverage its full value.
The hotel is currently being refurbished which on check in you are given a letter explaining the modifications to the breakfast area etc. On check in as a good Will offering you are offered a free drink of your choice (alcoholic or none alcoholic) which can be taken to the room because there is no other place to drink it. Breakfast is provided in the rooms and ordered by placing a breakfast request of items on your door before midnight. To be honest this was a good idea but the quality of the food is the same for any holiday inn express - poor and cheap quality - consisting of cereal, danish, croissants, instant porridge and instant coffee, water and a carton of milk with either an apple or banana. If you want a hot breakfast maybe just go to the pub attached to this hotel but I would give the breakfast order a miss.
The rooms are the usual cheap and basic standard which was expected. I was on the third floor and from leaving the lift you could smell an odour which I think was from the carpets that either need cleaning or replacing - yuck. The hotel itself was quiet and the refurbishment according to the letter is only for February 2020.
The staff were all very welcoming but I would only stay in this hotel again if the refurbishment and odour was a vast improvement.
Breakfast was basic but edible, and included in the rate, the Wifi worked and the staff were cheery. The bathroom was large and the room was cleaned every day.
In terms of value, this place delivers
Breakfast was fine with a few different hot options including sausages; scrambled eggs; bacon and baked beans. There is also a selection of cereals and gorgeous pastries.
The room is clean and comfortable. There is some noise outside that you can hear from trains but to be honest, it's a central London hotel so it would be hard to find a hotel in this area without this issue.
I was able to store my bags at the hotel on my last day after checking out - this service was very helpful to me.
A few points that could help to make my stay even better - my colleague and I got into the lift one evening after a long day. The lifts are quite small in this hotel. A couple with their young child decided to squeeze into the lift with us which really annoyed us both and we had to get out the lift and wait for the next one to arrive. As Covid is still rife, they need to have a sign near the lift to limit numbers.
Breakfast time gets really busy later on (around 9.30 am) and there were lots of people queuing. They need to manage this more carefully and introduce a one-way system as people were going backwards and forwards in the area.
Overall, I was very happy with the hotel's amenities and staff (who are a credit to the Holiday Inn), and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to others.
We were told when we checked in that breakfast was busy after 9am and were advised to come earlier. We went for breakfast as 8am, walked into the dining area and it looked as though a bomb had gone off, There was tables stacked with dirty plates and left over food. People were trying to clear their own tables to sit down and piling dirty plates and bowls on other tables, There were one or two staff running around frantically trying to clear things up.
We cleared our own table and went to the buffet. Not only was there no food there was no cups, plates or cutlery. Half the people were queuing for food and the other half were queuing for plates or cups. The supervisor was asking people what they needed and then going to get the dirty cups and plates from the tables, washing them himself and bringing them out.
After finally getting the cups and plates we joined the queue of people stood outside the kitchen doors waiting for food to come out. 10 croissants would come out of the kitchen every ten minutes or so which would trigger a frenzied activity as people grabbing pastries before they could even be put down.
There was some packaged sausage sandwiches which was anaemic looking sausage is a dry bread bun and I managed to get a member of staff to bring me a yogurt out of the back. There was also some fresh juice which tasted gone off.
We left hungry and disappointed thinking it might be a one off or they might be short staffed with staff self-isolating............... the next day was worse!!!
We spoke the manager about the breakfast asking if he was short staffed and he said no and that this is just what things were like over a weekend.
It's a real shame as everything else about the hotel was perfect and great value for money
