'He told me to marry some rich guy!' Jerry Hall reveals Andy Warhol once told her to 'leave' millionaire Sir Mick Jagger and wed into money... years before she met billionaire husband Rupert Murdoch

Jerry Hall says legendary pop-art pioneer Andy Warhol once told her to 'leave' Sir Mick Jagger and 'marry some rich guy' - despite the Rolling Stones star being worth millions.

The 65-year-old model was in a relationship with the singer, 78, with whom she has four children, for 22 years from 1977, when the band were at the height of their touring success.

But she admitted her late friend, who passed away aged 58 in 1987, thought she could do better and urged her to walk away from the long-term romance.

'I first met Andy Warhol in Paris in 1973. Andy did six portraits of me. He took millions of photos of me,' she told the Times.

'He loved my Southern accent. He always told me to leave Mick Jagger and marry some rich guy.'

Jerry, who is now married to billionaire newspaper tycoon Rupert Murdoch, 90, told how she and the artist used to hang out in legendary New York nightspot Studio 54.

They opted to be 'boring' and people-watch while 'naughty' stars, including Mick, partied in the basement.

She said: 'I never went in the basement, neither did Andy, but terrible things happened down there.

'Everyone taking cocaine, that was so boring. I never took that, neither did Andy.'

Jerry and Rupert married an intimate ceremony in London in March 2016 following a whirlwind five month romance.

The media mogul has six children from three previous marriages: James, 49, Lachlan, 50, Elisabeth, 44, Prudence, 63, Grace Helen, 20, and Chloe, 18.

His marriage to Jerry is the fourth for Murdoch and the first for Hall, who held an unofficial marriage-like ceremony in 1990, in Bali, Indonesia with Jagger.

Andy Warhol's America starts tonight airing on BBC2 at 9pm.
