"Legend of the Dark Knight: Penguin, Our Hero" is the third episode of the fifth season of Gotham. It aired on January 17, 2019.
Synopsis[]
With the creation of Haven as a safe place for refugees, Gordon hopes to stop the gang-fighting in Gotham. Selina is determined to find Jeremiah and convinces Bruce to help her. Meanwhile, Penguin goes to Haven to reclaim his staff.
Plot[]
Day 95: After her recovery, Selina escapes from the hospital and she and Bruce work together to track Jeremiah down to the dark zone of the city, where they discover that Ecco is recruiting people to work for the former. Selina fakes wanting to work for Jeremiah to break into their headquarters, but after a showdown, Ecco escapes and Selina betrays Bruce to go after Jeremiah. Meanwhile, Cobblepot's men defect to the haven and he leads a small army to the area, where he captures Gordon and the refugees. However, the Street Demons, believing Cobblepot killed their men, take Cobblepot prisoner and kill the defected thugs, forcing him and Gordon to work together and free themselves before killing the Street Demons. However, as Gordon allows Cobblepot to go free, the haven is blown up by an unknown perpetrator, killing the refugees.
Triva[]
- While Ecco and Selina fight, Ecco calls her "pudding", followed then by Selina screaming "Don't call me pudding". This is a running gag about Harley Quinn and her relationship with the Joker, where she calls her beloved boss with similar nicknames and sometimes getting punished for that when Joker is in a bad mood.

- The Mutants gang had last appeared in the season 2 episode "This Ball of Mud and Meanness". The Mutant leader utters the phrase: "Slice and dice" which is a known phrase used by the Mutants in The Dark Knight Returns graphic novel miniseries.
- The scene with the empty pool room in which Selina later fights Ecco was filmed at the indoor pool room of Alder Manor, Yonkers NY. This filming location was previously also used to depict Professor Pyg's hideout in "A Dark Knight: Queen Takes Knight".[1]
