Synopsis[]

J.J.'s ex-girlfriend is visiting and plans an expensive night of romance. J.J. can't pay for the evening because he just lost his job.

Storyline[]

J.J.'s former girlfriend Vanessa is back in town, and she still has expensive taste. J.J. does not want to tell her that he is out of work and cannot afford to take her out all the time. Bookman's assistant is interested in J.J.

Plot summary[]

After a four-week hiatus, Good Times returned to CBS's Wednesday-night schedule with this episode. Sheryl Lee Ralph guest stars as Vanessa Blake, an old girlfriend of unemployed J.J. Evans (Jimmie Walker). Afraid to tell Vanessa that he's out of work, J.J. suffers a thousand deaths as his high-maintenance sweetie pressures him into taking her on a very expensive date.
