Glenn Close's career has spanned decades, mediums, and genres. As an actor she has been nominated for eight Oscar awards: four for Best Supporting Actress (The World According to GarpThe Big ChillThe Natural, and Hillbilly Elegy) and four for Best Actress (Fatal Attraction, Dangerous Liaisons, Albert Nobbs, and The Wife.) She has won three Tonys, an Obie, three Emmys, two Golden Globes, and a Screen Actors Guild Award. Further, she is an accomplished screenwriter and lyricist.

In addition to her prolific and versatile work as an actor, Close is active in a variety of non-profit initiatives. She is very involved in efforts to destigmatize mental illness, increase support for people suffering from mental illness, and raise awareness for scientific research in the area of mental health. Other non-profit involvement includes animal rescue, cancer research, and wildlife conservation.
