      Critics Consensus

Gifted isn't quite as bright as its pint-sized protagonist, but a charming cast wrings respectably engaging drama out of a fairly predictable premise.

Josh L It was a half decent good movie but there was multiple parts that had me crying and frustrated because it wasn't fair to either of the protagonists. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/23/24 Full Review Scott B Wonderful movie. Chris Evans surprised me with his versatility. I'm very surprised this one didn't fare better in theaters. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/04/24 Full Review frederick c While it was annoying that the main plot wasn't about the ‘she is gifted' storyline, but it was a heartfelt film. Some of the cast I wasn't to sure about in the first part, however they did grow on me later on. I thought Chris Evans was great in the main role. The music also played well to the story and emotions. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/04/24 Full Review Ravi T Pretty good feel-good movie! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/03/24 Full Review Lilianna P Amazing child actor. This movie is full of emotions Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/20/23 Full Review Erwin F Great movie with a wonderful script! David Stratton The Australian It's good to see [Marc Webb] back working on more intimate material, even though Gifted isn't entirely satisfactory. Rated: 3/5 Sep 1, 2017 Full Review Paul Byrnes Sydney Morning Herald Gifted is not your run-of-the-mill melodrama. More like an exceptional melodrama. It still plays the violin, if you get what I mean, but the violinist is skilful. Rated: 4/5 Aug 30, 2017 Full Review Donald Clarke Irish Times Gifted gives glorified TV movies a better name. Rated: 3/4 Jun 29, 2017 Full Review Michael Clark Epoch Times Gifted isn't just a great family film, it offers insight and lessons for a lifetime and might actually make you and your children better people. That's far more than you can expect to take away from any movie. Rated: 4.5/5 Apr 11, 2022 Full Review Hosea Rupprecht Pauline Center for Media Studies Please, go see Gifted. It may not be a perfect movie (the court scenes are too long) and unapologetic about manipulating your emotions but the giftedness celebrated in the story is well worth it. Aug 26, 2021 Full Review Leigh Monson Substream Magazine A film can rise or fall entirely on its screenplay, and in portraying the struggles of smart people, Gifted comes across as very, very dumb.
