      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

A retread of A Christmas Carol, featuring Matthew McConaughey in a retread of his Dazed and Confused role, Ghosts of Girlfriends Past lacks originality, humor, and any semblance of charm.

Ram L Not mushy, but romantic; not laugh-out-loud, but sprinkled with funnies—that's what a lovely rom-com should be, and that's what this movie is. It's so thoroughly entertaining, I pretty much have just one phrase for the movie—close to five stars. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/06/24 Full Review Texyz T OMG, this is an awesome piece of work, from the casting, to script and AMAZING depth of clever dialogue, to the directing. Outstanding soundtrack. I literally cannot believe the 'Audience' rates this so low. I've never seen such an underrated movie. Once a year for me and it gets better every time. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 12/18/23 Full Review Katie D I thought it was really fun. An interesting and very different type of romcom. I recommend a viewing. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/19/23 Full Review peter S Matthew McConaughey shows off his extraordinary charm in this light and enjoyable comedy. It's non stop laughs and giggles. And some warm moments. Good fun. Don't be put off by the low rating from the critics, they don't approve of light fun. It's not their fault, it's in the job description. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/08/23 Full Review Ben P Surprised this is rated so low… It's not perfect, but it has an fun premise and strong performances from McConaughey and Garner. Fun Rom Com! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/28/23 Full Review Giorgio S Michael Douglas is cool, the rest is terrible. The idea is basic and the characters are boring. Emma Stone is in this movie but she is wasted in the worst way possibile. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/08/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
