New Fan here with a question on how to read
Hello my fellow sci-fi fans im a sucker for sci-fi but i haver never tried the manga/anime format before this is the series that i want to dive into because i heard its an inspiration for many other sci-fi that i consumed before now here is my question
i bought the compiled edition that includes ghost in the shell, human error processor and man-machine interface but i realized there is also human algorithm series which started in 2019 and people here say it fills the gap between 1.5 and 2.0 but its not completed and i can only get 2 volumes of it should i get them and after finishing 1.5 reading 2 of them will be enough to continue with the 2.0?
any recommendation or guideline on how to navigate through manga would be very appreciated thanks
I actually recommend you watch the two films by Mamoru Oshii. If after, you weren't bored during the contemplation/sci-fi jargon scenes, then you can read the two first mangas.
GitS (along with Akira) I've always recommended to newcomers to watch the films first; as the mangas expand a lot more on their universes and makes them feel like brand new experiences.
Okay i will first watch 2 movies and then manga to explore more of it how about the human algorithm manga? is it a must to read it or should i just skip to the last manga which is 2.0. Human algorithm seems it is not completed and there are 4 volumes available
Personally I find Masamune's original works (1, 1.5, and 2) along with Oshii's film adaptations (1 and 2) are the baseline for what you should read/watch first.
If after that you want more, watch the anime series ("S.A.C." and "S.A.C. 2nd GIG").
If you still want more after that, read/watch the other stuff; but I never liked it nearly as much as the original manga and films.
Thanks a bunch i dont like to consume too much of something even if i like it the base and original works are enough for me
