      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Inauthentic and unfunny, Get a Job is paltry to the point that its long-delayed release feels purely the result of its wasted cast having been promoted to greater fame all these years later.

Bryan B Unfocused trying to be an ensemble movie just fast walks through its plot. I never cared about any of the characters enough to see if they did something. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Yeah, pretty bad. Very few funny moments Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 08/14/23 Full Review Cork B I liked the characters and the actors, there is some really good humor in here, and an interesting premise about downsizing and self worth. Unfortunately, the last 3rd tries to go in too many zany directions and it kind of derails things. I preferred Company Men, although this is funnier in an offbeat sort of way. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/27/23 Full Review Cassandra S A refreshing insight into what the job market is really like these days for all ages. Could almost be a new reality tv series or documentary. Life is not all peaches and working out what you want to do with your life and finding your place in the world is a tough gig. Schools don't do enough to prepare our kids for the real world and it's a real shame. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Great flick. Old school feel. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/01/23 Full Review meredith w After College, millennial Wil (Miles Teller) and his friends are having problems getting jobs in their career fields, as is his recently-retrenched dad (Bryan Cranston). With Anna Kendrick also in the cast, there is much potential, however, it is largely unrealised as everyone appears to just be going through the motions with a mediocre script. Lou Lumenick New York Post Crass and painfully unfunny satirical comedy shot four years ago. It's finally receiving a token theatrical release concurrent with being dumped into the video-on-demand sludge pile. Rated: 0.5/4 Apr 8, 2016 Full Review Dennis Harvey Variety This long-shelved comedy proves a disappointing mix of onscreen talent, uneven social satire and juvenile humor. Mar 25, 2016 Full Review Jordan Hoffman Guardian Get A Job's primary problem is that it doesn't know if it wants to be a realistic look at millennials and the current economy, or go for the cheap gag about the jive-talking pimp renting out a sleazy motel. Rated: 2/5 Mar 25, 2016 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews ...exceedingly (and often egregiously) broad... Rated: 2.5/4 Jan 8, 2022 Full Review Robert Kojder Flickering Myth Some bits scrape the bottom of the barrel so hard that I dare to say it is a career low for Miles Teller, Anna Kendrick, and Bryan Cranston Rated: 2/5 Dec 4, 2017 Full Review Frederic and Mary Ann Brussat Spirituality & Practice A weak and wobbly comedy about the difficulties of millennials in the wonderful world of work.
