Reviews
- Edited 6 months agoPitney's Bacharach recordings are some of the strongest in his catalog; it's a shame he only recorded seven Bacharach tunes. One of the very best, "Fool Killer," never caught on and became a hit. While several of these tunes have fewer of the quirky harmonic and melodic twists and turns Bacharach was known for, "Fool Killer" is right up their with the most sophisticated material written for Dionne Warwick and Dusty Springfield.
Three of the tunes on this release were by composers other than Burt Bacharach; for one ("Donna Means Heartbreak") Hal David was involved. For some reason, the album opener is one of the tunes not written by Bacharach.
