GARY MERRILL, fue un actor de carácter de nacionalidad estadounidense, cuya carrera comprendió más de cincuenta producciones cinematográficas y docenas de actuaciones en diferentes series de culto de la televisión.
Su carrera televisiva fue extensa, aunque sin gran consistencia. Sus papeles recurrentes, entre ellos los que hizo para Then Came Bronson, con Michael Parks, y Young Doctor Kildare, duraron menos de una temporada.
En 1964 fue el editor Lou Sheldon en la serie de la CBS de corta trayectoria The Reporter, protagonizada por Harry Guardino.

GARY MERRILL, was an actor of character of American nationality, whose race included more than fifty cinematographic productions and dozens of appearances in different series of cult television.
His television career was extensive, although without great consistency. His recurring roles, including those for Then Came Bronson, with Michael Parks, and Young Doctor Kildare, lasted less than a season.
In 1964 he was editor Lou Sheldon on the short-lived CBS series The Reporter, starring Harry Guardino.
Merrill’s first marriage, to Barbara Leeds in 1941, ended in divorce in 1950. He immediately married Bette Davis, his co-star on All About Eve, with Davis bringing a daughter, B. D. Hyman, from a previous marriage. Although the couple adopted two other children, they decided to divorce in 1960.
Often politically active, he campaigned in 1958 for the election of Edmund Muskie of the Democratic Party of the United States to the post of Governor of Maine. Merrill also took part in the 1965 Selma to Montgomery marches to promote the African American vote. Furthermore, and in response to the policy of President Lyndon B.
Johnson, regarding the Vietnam War, unsuccessfully sought to be nominated as a Democratic, Pacifist, and Environmentalist candidate to the Maine Legislative Assembly.
