Garrow is Accused of Adultery

Thomas Whiley travels on a cart as his mother, Alice tells Garrow that she will never let him forget her son and throw's pig's blood over him. Silvester is appalled whilst Garrow is shocked.

Garrow talks of the “endless, monstrous crimes of men” and throws down a legal document in disgust. Lady Sarah comforts a distraught Garrow. He wipes the blood from his hands, Sir Arthur gloats that that he cannot wait for Garrow to meet his counsel, Thomas Erskine.

Silvester offers to be a sceptical Garrow’s counsel in court. Garrow and Silvester stand as Judge Kenyon enters. Sir Arthur, Lady Sarah and Southouse anxiously wait for the trial’s verdict. Garrow is left to contemplate his future.
