Gian Galeazzo Ciano (born 18 March 1903) is the Duce of the Italian Empire.

Biography

Ciano was born in 1903. His father was a famous admiral in the Italian Navy who received a royal title of count for his service and was very wealthy. Ciano became involved with politics in 1922 when he participated in the March on Rome with his father. He married Edda Mussolini, the daughter of Italian Dictator Benito Mussolini, in 1930.

War Years

Ciano volunteered for service in the Italo-Ethiopian war in 1935 as a bomber squadron commander. He rose through the Fascist Party and soon became the Italian foreign minister.

Post War

After the war, Ciano was appointed as Mussolini's successor. As Duce, Ciano expanded the Triumvirate, but refuses to change anything Mussolini has created due to how highly he holds his deceased father-in-law. However, his efforts to remain in power are pointless, as regardless of how the Verona Congress ends, he will find himself removed. If Ciano successfully purges his rivals, King Umberto II will overthrow him and restore democracy. If the fascist opposition prevails, the Quadrumvirate (Alessandro Pavolini, Italo Balbo, Ettore Muti and Niccolò Giani) will appoint Carlo Scorza to replace Ciano as Duce until one of them comes out on top. If the Congress collapses due to infighting, a revolution will break out, eventually leading to the fall of the Italian Empire and the establishment of the People's Republic of Italy.

Trivia

Originally, Ciano was portrayed as a disillusioned fascist seeking to bring back democracy, believing that fascism has failed Italy.
