Retired Correctional Counselor II (Specialist) Frederick “Fred” Schmidt passed away May 20, 2022. He began his career at California Correctional Institution (CCI) in September 1977. Schmidt became a Materials and Stores Supervisor in July 1982. He then promoted to Correctional Counselor I in August 1984.
He promoted again to Correctional Counselor II (CCII) Supervisor in June 1998. Lastly, he became a CCII Specialist, where he remained until retiring in May 2004.
During his career, he also worked at CSP-Los Angeles County in mid-2001 and Wasco State Prison from 1995 through 1998.
“CCI sends our condolences and thoughts to the family and friends of Frederick ‘Fred’ Schmidt,” according to a statement issued by the institution.
