Anne Edna Godfrey

Hampstead - Anne "Edna" (Hurley) Godfrey, 75, of Hampstead, NH, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 11, 1947, to the late William and Emmie Muriel (Tucker) Hurley, in her hometown of Cupids, Newfoundland. In 1970, Edna was joined in Holy Matrimony with Francis Parker Godfrey, whom she spent 52 wonderful years with. In 1985, Edna and Parker called Salem, NH, home, and built their house by hand on Queen Anne Lane. They spent 30 years there, building a wonderful and loving family.
Religion and God were always close to Edna's heart. She has been a communicant of St. Matthew's Parish for the past 35 years. During that time, she has been a Eucharistic Minister, taught eighth grade CCD, and taught her own family about the love Jesus has for them. Daily, she could be found at 5 a.m., reciting her morning prayers, and at 7 p.m. praying the rosary, even when she was away from home.
Edna had many joys in life. She loved playing dominoes with her friends, shopping at the Christmas Tree Shop, and Kohl's, and going on many cruises with Parker including the Mediterranean, Baltic, Hawaii, and the Caribbean. Edna's hometown of Cupids was always dear to her heart. She even attended the 400th Anniversary of Cupids in 2010. Most of all, Edna loved her family and spending time with them. She always invited the whole extended family to her many parties on Queen Anne Lane, and even a few family weddings in the yard.
Edna is survived by: her husband, Francis "Parker" Godfrey; their children: Dwayne Godfrey, and his wife Danielle, of Londonderry, NH, Danielle Jackson, of Derry, NH, Denise Camire and her husband Matthew, of Taylorsville, NC, and Dana and Thomas Porter, of Salem, NH; her brothers: Daryl Hurley, of Montreal, Canada, and Jerome Hurley, and his wife Karen of Toronto, Canada; her 16 grandchildren; and her two great-grandchildren, including another one on the way.
Edna is predeceased by: three of her grandchildren: Geoffrey Jackson, and Andrew and Brian Camire; and her siblings: Michael Hurley, Pauline Hurley, and Marlene Berriau.
Calling hours will take place on Sunday, May 1, 2022, from 1 to 5 p.m., at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham, NH 03087. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, May 2, 2022, at 11 a.m., at St. Matthew's Parish, 2 Searles Road, Windham, NH 03087. Memorial Contributions may be made in Edna's name to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168, who helped her through her whole battle with cancer. Plant a tree: How does it work

When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.

An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.

After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.

Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.
