Notes
Francis Albert Sinatra & Antonio Carlos Jobim is a 1967 studio album by Frank Sinatra, featuring Antonio Carlos Jobim.
The tracks were arranged and conducted by Claus Ogerman and his orchestra.
Along with Jobim's original compositions, the album features three standards from the 'Great American Songbook', ("Change Partners", "I Concentrate on You", and "Baubles, Bangles and Beads") arranged in the bossa nova style.
Sinatra and Jobim followed up this album with sessions for a second collaboration, titled Sinatra-Jobim. That album was briefly released on 8-track tape in 1970 before being taken out of print at Sinatra's behest, due to concerns over its sales potential. Several of the Sinatra-Jobim tracks were subsequently incorporated in the Sinatra & Company album (1971) and the Sinatra-Jobim Sessions compilation (1979). In 2010 the Concord Records label issued a new, comprehensive compilation titled Sinatra/Jobim: The Complete Reprise Recordings.
At the Grammy Awards of 1968 Francis Albert Sinatra & Antonio Carlos Jobim was nominated for the Grammy Award for Album of the Year.
Recorded: January 30 - February 1, 1967, Hollywood, Los Angeles.

- This is an example that even a Kevin Gray reissue from rhino can be inferior to my bargain english original - The reissue is imho Part of the loudness war, every instrument as loud as it can. After six songs my ears get exhausted. This one has a huge stage and the voice is very prominent in the mix and i will take this one with me on the island.
- Quite simply, this is a masterpiece, and was one of Frank's best, and most consistent records. An absolutely gorgeous fusion, of Mr Sinatra's vocal artistry, and the beautiful Brazilian Bossa Nova tenderness and subtly of Antonio Carlos Jobim. To be honest, this is as good as music gets, and totally essential for serious music lover. This CD release also has sparkling liner notes and moody, atmospheric photography. If you are a vinyl collector, you might want to consider adding this LP, to your collection, as it also looks awesome visually, as iconic 12 inch wax .
Much earlier in sixties, Stan Getz, returned to New York, from Denmark, and was shocked to find himself, out of style. Stan was having none of it, and followed his instincts, and kick started the Bossa Nova revival. Frank didn't seem bothered, but eventually he was overcome with the gentle softness, and beauty, of this organic, free flowing Brazilian music, infused with life innocence and joy. Thank goodness, that Frank just didn't shrug and think to himself, I've missed the Bossa Nova bus. Frank arrived late to the party, but this collaboration with Carlos and his brilliant musicians from Brazil, and the delicate production of Sonny Burke, resulted in a Bossa Nova classic, that sits nicely, and compliments the other Bossa Nova masterpieces of the sixties.

The Grain Of Salt - An excellent album, something of a mood piece, and a great late-night listen, akin to Sinatra classics such as "No One Cares" and "Where Are You". The voice is quieter here, more subtle and thoughtful in his delivery, and Jobim's arrangements are similarly low-key and sublime. Only complaint? Too short, at less than half an hour in length. My copy is an US mono original pressing, and it sounds very good, with a warm, rich, full, lush yet open sound, with Sinatra's vocals arguably never sounding as good as they do here. My copy plays cleanly throughout, and after a good cleaning there's only a trace of occasional faint surface noise, mostly confined to the between-song grooves.
- Here’s proof that FS might just be the greatest vocalist of the 20th century - stripped of his rat pack persona & ushering in a hushed rich intimate voice full of musical innuendos & luxuriously arranged by Claus Ogerman it's up there with his finest albums.
And while it came out in the ’67 summer of love, it’s the total opposite of the sounds of Haight-Ashbury.
Each song is a winner - simply a marvellous album.
Superb late night seductive lounge crooning.
Run out and buy it!! - For an “unofficial” pressing, sounds awesome. Very dynamic and Frank’s voice is there in front of you. Very happy with this record

Great sounding pressing. Frank sounds amazing and the stereo separation is pronounced and well mastered lovely to have these classics in such a beautiful sounding package. A referencing Francis Albert Sinatra & Antonio Carlos Jobim (LP, Album, Reissue, Remastered, Stereo, 180 Gram) 5727618
It’s a loud mastering and it seams to be done at the limit because there’s a slight distortion on Sinatra’s voice that compromise a bit the sound quality. But I’m happy with the purchase. It’s still pleasant.
