Princess Charlene and Prince Albert of Monaco and their twins visit Germany to celebrate the principality being added to the Miniature Wonderland exhibition

Princess Charlene of Monaco looked every inch the proud mother as she joined her husband, Prince Albert and their children for the opening of 'Monaco World' in Hamburg today.

The royal, 46, looked in high spirits as she watched her twin children, Jacques and Gabriella, interact with the exhibit.

The family-of-four celebrated Monaco being added to the list of countries to appear in Miniature Wonderland, one of the most popular tourist attractions in Germany.

Charlene put her best fashion foot forward and donned a smart cream coat which she paired with black top.

The former Olympic swimmer wrapped up warm with a onyx-coloured scarf, as temperatures in the German city were around nine degrees today.

The mother-of-two coordinated her ensemble with her daughter, Gabriella, nine, who sported an ivory-coloured knitted jumper that was embroidered with flowers.

Her husband Prince Albert of Monaco, 66, who donned a navy smart suit which matched with his son Jacques.

The nine-year-old donned a dark blue chunky cable knit jumper with a smart crisp shirt and a tie, echoing his father's style.

The Princess of Monaco wore her short signature blonde tresses down and showed off her stylish fringe.

She showcased her large, glitzy diamond stud earrings and opted to wear full-glam makeup with bronze eye-shadow and pink lipstick.

Those visiting Miniature Wonderland can admire different countries and airports at a miniature size and the newest edition contains detailed tiny replicas of some of the country's most iconic landmarks such as the Palace, the marina and F1 Monaco Grand Prix circuit.

Other areas around the world featured in the display include Austrian Alps, France, Italy, North America and Scandinavia.

The visit comes as Prince Albert made a surprise visit to a small village in Cheshire known to be home to millionaires and footballers last week.

He shocked customers when he was spotted dining for lunch at celebrity hotspot, San Carlo, a restaurant based in Alderley Edge.

Albert looked suave in a smart black trouser suit, crisp white chequered shirt and some highly polished shoes as he posed with his arms around two of the restaurant's managers.

It is unknown why the Prince was visiting the area, which is known as the home of 'Manchester royalty'.

The son of Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier III was seemingly dining at the Italian restaurant without his wife Princess Charlene or their children, Gabriella, and Jacques.

Albert and Charlene were also pictured taking their children to the Monte Carlo Tennis Masters tournament on 14 April.

The sporty couple, who both represented their countries in the Olympics, also put on a united display, even coordinating their outfits.

It isn't the first time the pair have attended the tournament - with the proud parents being joined by both twins last year.

Their appearance at the match came after reports claimed Prince Rainier III of Monaco began drawing up plans to remove his son Prince Albert from the line of succession in favour of Princess Caroline before his death.

The former premier of Monaco, who died in 2005 aged 81, sought legal advice towards the end of the 1990s about how the line of succession would continue if the heir apparent, Prince Albert, was skipped over in favour of his older sister Princess Caroline.

French newspaper Le Monde reports that Claude Palmero, the man in charge of the Palace's finances for more than two decades until he was ousted last summer, confirmed rumours that Prince Rainier was considering altering the succession laws in the years leading up to his death.

The report cites a 2001 letter written to Prince Rainier by Patrice Davost, who was head of judicial services in Monaco, which confirmed the contents of a meeting they had had to discuss how the Grimaldi name could be carried in the royal bloodline if Princess Caroline's son Andrea Casiraghi eventually assumed the throne.

According to the newspaper, Mr Davost's letter which is addressed to Prince Rainier reads: 'I shared with you my research and thoughts on the following question that had been submitted to me: How to ensure the continuity of the Grimaldi dynasty, name and coat of arms in the event of your grandson Andrea's accession to the throne, following Princess Caroline's renunciation of her rights to the crown?'

The report also claims Rainier had concerns his son 'was not up to the job' of becoming premier and often publicly 'belittled' him, which led to Albert developing a stutter when he spoke in French.

Mr Davost told Le Monde he had, in fact, carried out a 'discreet' investigation as to whether Andrea could one day be crowned Monegasque premier - however he claimed Rainier told him it was in case Albert died.

The story, which Prince Albert has dismissed as 'nonsense' according to Tatler, is also recounted in Claude Palmero's notebooks, which were released by the newspaper at the end of January.

The newspaper claims Mr Palmero confirmed Prince Rainier was considering changing the laws of succession in Monaco in favour of Princess Caroline.

The 'secret notebooks' of Mr Palmero, who was in charge of the Monegasque Palace's finances for more than 20 years until he was unceremoniously ousted by Prince Albert last summer, were released in a dossier by Le Monde and contained startling claims about the Monegasque royal family's finances.

The Monegasque Palace did not want to comment.
