My son and I booked a room here for 10/16/2020 - 10/18/2020 and were very disappointed in this hotel. Our stay here started off by coming in to check in and finding a note stating that the person working the desk was busy assisting other guests and would return shortly. After standing there for about 10 minutes (during which time another couple came in to check in) we still hadn't been helped. So I called the hotel and the girl (Michelle) working the desk came out of the office directly behind the counter to answer the phone. This lack of service at the desk happened two more times while at the hotel for the weekend. The hotel was very worn and dirty feeling. The elevators had dirty floors with pieces of trash laying in them all weekend. Our room did appear clean for the most part and smelled of bleach. The door of our closet was disconnected from the track slide when we checked in which they did fix the next day. However, the bathroom had rusty hinges on the door, someone had splashed something on the light above the vanity which had dried there leaving drip stains in brown and the shower rod had brown stains on the bottom of it in the form of condensation drips as well. In the room the refrigerator had big dents in the door and the wooden unit it sat in had quite a bit of damage to it (someone had tried to hide some of this damage with tape). Over all it was a roof over our heads for the weekend and seemed to be bug free from what we saw of it. I really can't say much more about it though. Once the weekend was over we booked a condo for the rest of our stay which was much cleaner/nicer/roomier than this hotel and cost the same money. I really can't believe Marriott lets this hotel operate under their name. Maybe I just expect too much for my money but this hotel cost way more than it was worth. Oh yes, they also had no breakfast and used the excuse of COVID-19 being the reason for this. We had just spent four nights in Pigeon Forge, TN prior to coming to Orange Beach and there was no issue there about food service. Our hotel there put on a great breakfast each morning with slight adjustments such as having people there to serve it to you (instead of serving yourself) and they chose not to offer the make your own waffle bar.

Overall the hotel was ok. Great location within walking distance to the beach, and private gate access to the beach. Hotel itself is a little older and could stand some freshening up. For example, our room had a large hole that been patched in the wall and had not been properly painted over.

Staff was friendly and accommodating for the most part but we had 2 very negatives experiences with the staff while there. #1 was with the night clerk on Saturday, July 23rd. My wife and I returned to the hotel around 11 PM and thought we would grab some extra towels on our way up to the room. I approached the front desk and said “Hi! I was wondering if we could get a couple of extra towels please?” Without even making eye contact she (the clerk) responded in a very rude tone “We don’t have any extra towels right now, they’re all in the dryer. You can check back in 30 minutes”. #2 was with the one member of breakfast staff - My wife witnessed the staff member very rudely telling a little boy to “MOVE!” when he was blocking her from placing a new tray of food down on the buffet line.

To me, both of these moments were completely unacceptable (especially #1). My wife and I try very hard not to be difficult guests, but we are guests none-the-less and when I’m paying $300+ a night to stay at a hotel, I expect to be treated with professionalism when making a simple request. I shouldn’t have to beg for the staff members to do their jobs correctly.

In short, we won’t be returning to this location in the future. For a Marriott property and for the price we payed, I expected more.

After putting off ad changing dates few times because of the pandemic, we decided to give this a go. We drive there from Louisiana and to our surprise, the hotel was and has been prepared for the guests by adjusting their services and within guidelines.

No house cleaning which was very nice because we were going to ask them not to send anyone to our rooms. Floors were marked for SD and other things guests were supposed to do.

We walked to the beach by simply crossing the Perdido Beach Blvd, there is a protected cross walk and pin coded access via a secure gate and a walking path between other hotels at the beach.

The beach was not crowded, we enjoyed limited breakfast at the hotel in the mornings. One specific employee Ms. Jody was extremely kind and accommodating towards us and other guests.

Our vacation was a success and I think we will be staying at the hotel in all our future vacations. They just made us feel welcome

We had an unexpected layover in Pensacola on October the 15th. Due to the recent hurricane rooms were hard to find. Located and booked this Fairfield Inn and made the hour drive. After checking in I observed the elevators were filthy, my room looked okay until I realized in the bathroom was plastic bag covering the fire sprinkler. Also, between the bed and the night stand was a pile of fingernails and who knows what else. There was food and crumbs beside the bed and window. The more I looked it was obvious the house cleaning staff did minimal cleaning. I decided to make the best of it. When I checked out I did mention what I had seen to the front desk. She said she would advise maintenance and house keeping. Spent almost 200.00 USD for the night! Like I said NEVER AGAIN!

The location of the hotel is not conducive to wave watching...condos block the view of the gulf completely. The hotel staff were friendly and Covid responsible. Unusual motor noise, almost like a bilge pump, at 4;00am both mornings moved through the building waking is. Due to Covid the breakfast buffet was not available, but the grab and go bag offered was practically inedible. Low quality, no name tasteless products. Very surprising for a Marriott

Hi Mike, I would like to first apologize relating to your disappointing stay. I verified just yesterday with the local county Health Department official and they are now permitting the service of hot & cold items from our buffet as long as we serve it. Our GM interviewed a potential associate for our breakfast area and look forward to opening up again soon. We have replaced the recirculating hot water pump that was causing the noise you mentioned . Our roofers will be completing the install of our brand new roof later this week. Our hotel is located about five minute walk to the beach. The beach view of the Gulf is outstanding from the sugar white sandy beaches. Hope to see you again when your travels bring you back in our beautiful area of Orange Beach, Al.

The first bed in room 304 is completely worn out. If you sit on the corner you just about slip to the floor. My husband slept on that one and he never wants to complain or ask for another room.
There is a sour smell in the room. I have stayed in this hotel before and the other room was not like this. There is a gross looking stain on the sofa and everything just has a worn look to it.
There is also something wrong with the volume on the TV. At full blast you can barely hear it.
Another thing to consider if you use the pool or any pool at a hotel. The single, male guest, in front of me, was asking for a first floor room with a window at the pool. He didn't say for what reason. Maybe he just likes to make sure nobody is there before he goes for a swim. I think they have guest, from out of country, staying long term.

Very nice hotel, very clean, nice staff, comfortable beds and the breakfast was delicious. They updated us to a suite and it was very big with a separate sitting area with a couch and chair. The only negative I have is the elevators need to be cleaned. Carpet was very dirty. That is the only negative. Will stay again.

The room was not ready when we arrived at 5pm and we had to wait. The room was small, bed was comfy, but there was mold in the shower. Breakfast consisted of convenience store snacks in a paper sack. Staff was friendly, but understaffed and visibly stressed. The facility would probably benefit from new management who can bring some organization and cleanliness. I will not stay here again, as multiple customers were complaining at the front desk.

The room was clean and spacious. The staff were nice. The location is very good - love that you can easily walk to the beach and that there is a private boardwalk! However, the outside of the place is horribly run down and the pool was too filthy to go in! And that was at the beginning of the Memorial Day weekend. My husband tried to use the net to clean it himself but it was still too dirty. No one was swimming at all. There were no umbrellas at the pool for shade. But the worse was that there was dried something that looked like vomit on one of the tables, lounge chair and ground in one area! I understand that they are understaffed but then this hotel should not charge almost $600 a night - yes, you heard that right. For a Fairfield Inn! Marriot should be ashamed! We only stayed one night.

This was the rudest staff I have ever encountered in any hotel in my life. It was a complete nightmare experience. After driving for 8 hours, being exhausted, all I wanted was to check in and rest. But they canceled my reservation without any cause, we’re rude and unapologetic about it. Offered no assistance, no resolution. It seems like the staff doesn’t want to be burdened with any guests checking in. I ended up having to switch to to a spring hill suites 30 minutes away and despite the inconvenience I will never ever set foot in the Orange beach Fairfield again. You could not pay me money to go there, under any circumstances.
