      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Little Birds' sumptuous style draws the eye like a peacock's plumage, but its aimless story keeps it from truly taking flight.

Melanie L Awesome artistry. Not a mainstream story or production. Loved it! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/24/22 Full Review Chris M A series of unconnected events happen near Casablanca. That's the closest to a plot that I can figure out. This is not a series, it's abstract avant-garde "art". As a bunch of stuff just happens, apparently the story is not the business of the viewing audience. As we have no clue what is happening. I've seen porn with clearer plots. Speaking of which the IMDb mentions this is based on a series of erotic short stories. In my opinion, it's not erotic and the story part must have been very short as nothing happens. It might have worked if it was like 20 minutes each episode but 45 minutes? This is nothing but fetish fuel. But it falls flat in the sex department. It's explicit in all the wrong ways and tame all the wrong ways. The little characterization we get is just Starz all unlikable asshole trope. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/24/22 Full Review Audience Member I loved the artistry and female empowerment in this series. Many people have said it had no plot but I think it did. It is also beautifully easy watching at the end of a busy day. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Lucy Mangan Guardian Little Birds is a series that honours them and their spirit, adding even more to them and making them resonate anew. Rated: 4/5 Aug 31, 2020 Full Review Brad Newsome Sydney Morning Herald With big, knowingly written female characters to the fore, it's an exotic trip. Aug 20, 2020 Full Review Dominic Maxwell Times (UK) The acting is strong, but you've got a lot of time to take it in -- and the scenery, and the camerawork, and the bursts of period-friendly Peggy Lee tunes in the soundtrack -- when the characters spent so long doing so terribly, terribly little. Aug 13, 2020 Full Review Joyce Slaton Common Sense Media A perverse and unusual book of literary erotica becomes a surreal and fetching narrative in this visually sumptuous and singular series. Rated: 4/5 Jun 22, 2021 Full Review Erin Allen Tell-Tale TV Little Birds is a visual feast for the eyes, and time will tell if the story lives up to its sensual aesthetic. But, it is definitely starting out strong. Rated: 3.5/5 Jun 8, 2021 Full Review Joel Keller Decider Little Birds just tries to do too much. Jun 7, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews
