Ezequiel Lavezzi

Ezequiel Ivan Lavezzi or famously known as Ezequiel Lavezzi is a professional football player who usually plays as a winger and occasionally as the secondary striker for Argentinian national team and Chinese club, Hebei China Fortune.  Apart he has also played for clubs like Italian Serie A club, Napoli and the French professional football club, Paris Saint Germain FC. 

Internationally, Lavezzi has played at the 2008 Summer Olympics, 2011 as well as 2015 Copa America, 2016 Copa America Centenario, and 2014 FIFA World Cup. He played at the U20  levels for Argentina national team and made his senior debut for Argentina in 2007.

Ezequiel Lavezzi’s Early Career

Ezequiel Lavezzi holds an Argentinian nationality. He was born to mother, Doris Alonso on 3 May 1985 in Villa Gobernador Galvez, Argentina.

He was highly interested in playing football since his early childhood days and joined the youth club of Argentinian club, Rosario Central in 1995 to begin his playing career.

Ezequiel Lavezzi’s  Career

He started his senior playing career with the Argentinian club, Estudiantes in 2003 and was then transferred to a fellow Argentinian football club, San Lorenzo in 2004 and scored a memorable goal against River Plate.

The Argentinian midfielder was the part of the team that went on to win the Argentine Primera Division in 2007.

He, later on, was transferred to Italy and signed a five-year contract with the Italian Serie A club, Napoli for an estimated transfer fee of around €6 million in summer of 2007.

Lavezzi made an immediate impact when he scored a hattrick in his debut Serie A match against Pisa and was instrumental in handing Napoli the Coppa Italia in 2011/12 season.

While playing with the club, he was even compared to the legendary Diego Maradona and he himself drew comparisons of himself with another Argentinian player, Carlos Tevez.

After a successful stay with the Italian club, he signed a four year deal with the club, French Ligue 1 club, Paris Saint Germain for a transfer fee worth €30 million in the summer of 2012.

He made his debut against FC Lorient on 11 August 2012 and scored first of his two goals against Dynamo Kviv during the Champions League on 21 November 2012.

The attacking midfielder had a major contribution by scoring a goal that helped the Germain team to win their third consecutive French League title on 16 May 2015.

He is currently playing for the Chinese football club, Hebei China Fortune FC with whom he signed a two-year deal in February 2016.

Ezequiel Lavezzi’s  International Career

He made his full senior international debut against Chile on 18 April 2007, he represented Argentina at the 2008 Summer Olympics where he won the gold as the part of the Argentinan squad.

Lavezzi scored his first international goal for Argentina against Albania in a friendly on 20 June 2011.

He played at the FIFA World Cup 2014 for Argentina squad led by Lionel Messi where Argentina lost to eventual winners, Germany.
