When I first started high school my life revolved around a soccer ball. I was the sport and my worth was entirely determined by how I performed within it. My sophomore year I developed an overuse injury which has kept me off the field for the past two years, and it was for this that ETHS became my outlet for discovering who I was beyond my physicality.
For better and worse, I have been left with solely the person within the body, and because of this, I have had to discover who that is. At the high school I have been given the tools, community, and environment to find pride and purpose detached from my physicality. Throughout my classes, I discovered my passion for writing and public speaking which I intend to pursue throughout my life and career. The friendships I have formed here have not only shown me the love I have for others, but also the ways in which I am loved and valued not by my past physical identities, but rather the character of the person within them.

ETHS is a decent public school. My teachers have mostly been good and a few have been amazing. There are tons of extracurriculars for anything a student wants to do, from clubs to tons of sports, to a great art and music program. The entire city matriculates to this one school, so we have a lot of resources. The building is gigantic (I can easily get 10,000 steps a day going to class) and there are multiple cafeterias, gyms, etc. I play a sport and have had awesome coaches, and also played in the orchestra and felt the director was wonderful. Generally, it's been a positive experience, even with how big the student body is (my class alone has nearly 1,000 students).
I've had a pretty good experience at Evanston Township. There was always many resources for students and support offered. Not only that, but the school held a lot of events that were fun and brought students together. There were always opportunities to connect with new people- especially through clubs and activities. There are so many clubs to choose from that satisfy many student's interests. With that said, I've pretty much enjoyed my time at ETHS and wouldn't have many recommendations on what should change.
