Otis F. Williams

Otis F. Williams, 90, of Loyalsock Township, passed away on Oct. 30, 2021 at Heritage Springs.

He was born Dec. 28, 1930 in Williamsport, son of the late Otis F. and Esther E. (Bangert) Williams.

Otis graduated from the Williamsport High School in 1948. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army in February 1951 during the Korean War and served in Korea for 17 months. He was then discharged from the Army at Fort Bliss in February 1954 with a rank of SGT. He graduated from Lock Haven State in 1958 with a bachelor’s in math and science, he also attended WACC, Lycoming College, and Penn State. Otis retired from South Williamsport Area School District in 1993 after 35 years of teaching math and science. He did a summer fellowship at Bucknell in 1961, Emory University in Atlanta in the summer of 1965 and for four summers from 1970 to 1973 at Fresno State with master’s in math. He was also a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. Otis married the love of his life, Clarabelle Springman on July 28, 1961 and shared 50 years together until she passed away on Oct. 24, 2011.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jean; special niece, Cynthia; and his best buddy, his son Dana K. Williams.

There will be a funeral service, at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2021 at Spitler Funeral Home, Montoursville with Rev. Richard M. Barner officiating. Followed by a burial in Montoursville Cemetery. There will be a viewing for family and friends, Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2021 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, 513 Spruce Street, Montoursville, PA 17754.
