Eskil moves from town to town with his father in Northern Sweden. He misses his mother and sucks at playing hockey, the main activity among the boys his age. Things changes when he meets Trinidad, a mysterious woman who lives outside society spending her time building a great ship that perhaps could take Eskil to his mother...

A 12year old boy has to move around in Sweden with his father all the time due the father work. The mother lives in Denmark. Whereever he lives he plays in the school Hockey team.
Most of the movie takes place in a few weeks at one place. It´s about the acqaintances he makes, his familial background and a part of his identity development.
The recordings of the snowy swedish landscapes are worth watching.
"‘Eskil & Trinidad’ is een jeugdfilm zoals ze die zo goed kunnen maken in Scandinavië. De kinderen zijn het middelpunt, de volwassenen om hen heen maken er een puinhoop van. Het (min of meer) gebroken gezin waar Eskil uit komt, is ook een situatie die we vaker zien, net als de ongewone vriendschap tussen een kind en een onbegrepen excentriekeling (zelfs in ‘Home Alone’ (1990) komt dat voorbij!). Ondanks een weinig origineel uitgangspunt, weet ‘Eskil & Trinidad’ toch je hart te stelen."
