Rock for People – from June 12 to 15

The first year was held at the athletics stadium in Český Brod, until 2006. The 13th edition moved Festivalpark to the former military airport in Hradec Králové, which could accommodate more bands and spectators. Rock for People got a good buzz among the summer acts in Europe. Its sold-out twenty-sixth year (season 2022) brought the organizers inclusion in the ten best central European festivals and ten promoters according to the European Festival Awards. This year’s Rock for People will also take place in Hradec Králové, from June 12 to 15 on a total of five stages.

Wednesday June 12, 2024: The program will start at 12:00 with Planetroxx on the Conference Stage. Gutalax, Donots, The Prodigy, Bad Omens, Dmitrievna, Thy Art is Murder, Enter Shikari, Corey Taylor, Bleed from Within, Hanabie, Until i Wake, 311, Aviva, Anna Vaverková or Prague Fear Houser will also perform.

Thursday 13 June 2024: The Offspring, Parkway Drive, Crystal Lake, The Amazons, Against the Current, Deathbyromy, Vypsaná Fixa, Underoath, Vypusť duší, TBA, Miles Kane, Neck Deep, Annet X or Prague Philharmonia Covers.

Czech legend at Rock for People 2024

The retro slot with the legend of the Czechoslovak music scene has been an integral part of Rock for People for many years and cannot be missed this year either. Unforgettable moments will be provided this year by a prominent personality – singer, composer, musician and occasional actor Petr Spálený & Apollo Band with his musical and life partner Miluší Voborníková. Immortal hits such as Baby cried, Until the angels… or Sir, you are a widow.

Petr Spálený has been playing music professionally since 1967, and his discography includes over 40 released LPs or CDs. He made several recordings with Master Karl Gott, alongside whom Zlatý Slavík placed on the top of the poll. He also collaborated with other stars of the music scene at the time, for example Václav Neckár or Waldemar Matuška.

Rock for People offers over 120 musical shows every year. From June 12 to 15, almost five dozen non-musical performances in the form of theater, dance, engaging lectures, stand-up comedy or film screenings will once again take place on the CT art and Conference stage.

Fans can look forward to, for example, the Cirk La Putyka artistic ensemble, which is preparing a performance tailored to Rock for People, the African ensemble Fulu Muziki, covers of well-known rock ballads performed by the Prague Philharmonia or the already legendary AZ quiz live with moderator Aleš Zbořil.

In recent years, in addition to the music and food festival, the beer festival, for which the organizers are preparing over 70 types of this juice! They will come to their senses lovers of lagers, flavored, dark and semi-dark beers, ciders, radler, non-filter, but also non-alka.

The accompanying program will be devoted to, for example the drug problem in socialist Czechoslovakia. A series of videos from the Archive of Czech Television will take viewers on a trip through the history of drug use in communist Czechoslovakia. From experiments with LSD to swallowing pills at home to the emergence of a drug subculture in the 70s. The band contains samples from dramatic, documentary and news productions and will give viewers an idea of ​​how the topic of “non-alcoholic drug addiction” was (not) presented in Czechoslovakia at the time.

Transport to Rock for People 2024

Whether you arrive at the festival by bicycle, train, bus or car is up to you, the organizers support any method. The airport where the festival takes place is two kilometers from the center of Hradec Králové.

The coordinates of the entrance to the Rock for People area are 50°14’49.6″N 15°50’09.6″E.

Bike: If you choose a bike, racks are available on site. You can join the traditional cycling tour from Prague through Kolín to Hradec Králové with Rock for People Cycling! She will go for the twelfth time this year. And this year there is even more reason to celebrate, because the first post-covid edition of the traditional cycle tour will start.

A two-day adventure. We leave on Monday 10 June in the morning from Černý Most in Prague, and in the evening the participants will enjoy a barbecue and barrels of beer in picturesque Kolín. On Tuesday, June 11, in the afternoon, the convoy will arrive in the festival town of Hradec Králové.

Everyone is welcome, regardless of age and cycling skill level! Children and seniors can also ride.The route is adapted for a comfortable ride for everyone. No one needs to worry about hauling their heavy load alone. It will be driven by an accompanying van that will carry all the things. Bikes will be stored in a storage room for free during the festival. The capacity this year is for the first 50 registrants. In addition, each participant will receive a t-shirt of this year’s Cycling Ride full of fun, music and adventure.

Train: Probably the most convenient way to get to Rock for People is by train. Hradec Králové main station can be easily reached from all parts of the Czech Republic.

There is a direct train from Prague to Hradec Králové several times a day. In addition, there is the possibility of several connections with a transfer in Pardubice. There is no direct route from Brno to Hradec Králové, you have to change at the main station in Pardubice. More than one carrier can be used.

Just like from Brno, there is no direct railway line to Hradec Králové from Ostrava. There are several daily connections from Ostrava to Pardubice, where you can change to a connection to Hradec Králové.

Bus: If you choose the bus, then from Hradec Králové main station, public transport line No. 15 will go towards the campus to the Airport stop.

There are direct buses from Prague to Hradec Králové with a boarding station at the Černý most bus station. There are direct buses from Brno to Hradec Králové with the boarding station at Zvonařka bus station. From Ostrava, the organizers recommend using the train instead. The bus journey from this city is too complicated, lengthy, and also with several transfers.

Car: Whatever city you are driving from, it is a good idea to follow the coordinates, especially because of the entrance to the parking lot so you don’t miss it.

From Prague by car, drive along the D11 highway. Hradec Králové is 100 kilometers from Prague. At Hradec Králové, exit the highway onto road number 11 and then head along Pražská třída to the Aupark shopping center, where you turn onto Gočárova třída. Then you turn onto the bypass around the center of Hradec Králové – Resslova třída and from there to Akademika Bedrny Street and then continue along Jan Černého Street to the airport. If the journey is without complications, it takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes.

If you go to the festival from Brno, you will first take road No. 44 to Svitavy. After Svitavy, before the village of Opatovec, turn onto road no. 35, which will take you to Hradec Králové, where from road no. 35 turn onto Akademika Bedrny, which will take you to the airport along Jan Černého Street. The journey from Brno takes approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes.

From Ostrava, the fastest way to get to the festival is via the D1 highway, and in Lipník nad Bečvou, take the E442 road around Olomouc, through Mohelnice, Moravská Třebová and Litomyšl to Hradec Králové, from where you will take road no. 35 to Jan Černý to the airport. The journey takes approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes. The route from Olomouc is similar to that from Ostrava, following road E442 via Mohelnice and Litomyšl to Hradec Králové. You will be at the airport in about two hours.

The way to the festival is usually well-marked with “Park 360” or “Rock for People” signs, standing even before arriving in the city. It is ideal to park in the large-capacity parking lot, which is guarded by festival security. However, it is not responsible for things left in the car. Those who arrive on time will avoid possible queues. Traffic near the site will be limited. Therefore, do not forget to follow the local signs.

• The Rock for People festival offers a total of seven different campsites in or around the festival grounds. Outside the campsite, the organizers offer fully equipped tents for tent owners, in which you only need to bring your own sleeping bag. At the same time, you can use all the services of a classic campsite. Prices are for one person.
