The House of Plantagenet crest.
Emma (Plantagenet) of Anjou is a member of the House of Plantagenet.

Emme (Emma) of Anjou (d.1214 or after),[1] along with her sister Mary, "Abbess of Shaftsbury" (ante 1151 - after 1216), are said to be the illegitimate daughters of Geoffrey Plantagenet, Count of Anjou (d.1151).[2][3]

Marriage and Issue

m. Dafydd ab Owain Gwynedd (d.May 1203), Prince of North Wales.[1] summer 1174.[1] Issue:[4]

  • Owain (b. ante 1196)[1]
  • Einion
  • Gwenllian ferch Dafydd
  • Gwenhwyfar (Wennour) ferch Dafydd m. Meurig ap Roger Powis[1]

Error

Previously Emma Plantagenet was made a daughter of Thomas of Woodstock and Eleanor de Bohun - there are no sources for a daughter of this couple with this name.
An Emma Plantagenet is said to be a sister of Henry II. This line is off by 100s of years.
The original death date for this profile was about 1214, which matches, Emma Plantagenet, the illegitimate daughter of Geoffrey of Anjou and sister of Henry II.

Research Notes

Warning: Check the data.
  1. A mother's death date (UNKNOWN-58139 died 1140) should not be before one of her children's birth dates (Plantagenet-159 born 1151) .

Plantagenet-159 and Plantagenet-1126 appear to represent the same person because: I've detached the profiles from Plantagenet-1126 that were for people born after she died. She can be merged with Plantagenet-159 now.

Plantagenet-1126 and Plantagenet-159 are not ready to be merged because: they share a death date, but Plantagenet-1126 has an attached son born well after she died that is not the son of Wynne-349 (attached as husband of Plantagenet-1126). These relationships need sources/detached before Plantagenet-1126 & Plantagenet-159 can be merged.

Plantagenet-1126 and Plantagenet-159 appear to represent the same person because: I note that Lindsay Coleman manages both these profiles

Although Emma Plantagenet's husband in 1126 is David Wynne and is Dafydc ap Owain Gwynedd in 159, in fact 1126 has the English version and 159 the Welsh version, so i think the two profiles probably actually do represent the same person. You may wish to consider merging them if you agree

Her father died on 7 September 1151, so Emma, can't have been born about 1161. Perhaps a birth date of about 1150 would be better.

Does not appear in Royal Ancestry. Agree with the sceptics here.

Emma Plantagenet is not a daughter Thomas of Woodstock. She is sometimes said to be a sister of Henry II - this whole line is off by 100s of years. Disconnecting.

Hi Clara, You imported Emme Plantagenet as a wife of Dafydd ap Llywelyn. She did marry a Dafydd, but it was a different one. I have attached her to the right one. Vic

I believe the parentage is incorrect as the dates do not match up.

There was a Thomas, Earl of Leicester and Lancaster (c. 1278 – 22 March 1322) married to Alice de Lacy, Countess of Lincoln. They had no children, however, Thomas had 2 illegitimate sons - John and Thomas. Mother unknown.

For Emma 1320/(30?) it might be a little late for the first Thomas to be the father but the son MAY be the answer.

The son Thomas was a King's Chamberlain but I do not have further information on him.

Emma born 1330 died 1314, has father born 1355 and mother born 1366. Other siblings were born when mother was 9 years old. Perhaps a merge that needs to be fixed? Thanks Lindsay for maintaining this profile.
