Reading Eagle: Winners announced for Nolde student art contest [Spotlight]

May 8—Art Plus Gallery has announced the winners of the 2022 "Nature of Nolde Forest" student art contest. The awards were presented Saturday at Nolde Environmental Education Center's McConnell Hall, by Helen Reinhold Gordon, a member of the West Reading-based non-profit artist cooperative that produces the annual contest. The awards were funded primarily by The Friends of Nolde Forest.

Now in its seventh year, the contest is open to all Berks County students in grades 1-12. All of the artwork will be featured through 2022 in an online gallery at www.artplusgallerypa.com.

Here are the winners:

Grades 1-2

First: Colton Pratt, Mifflin Park Elementary School, "Spillway at Angelica Creek"

Music

The Penn State College of Arts and Architecture in cooperation with the Reading Symphony Orchestra League will present the next Know Your Symphony Lecture on Wednesday, May 18, at 7:30 p.m. at The Highlands, 2000 Cambridge Ave., Wyomissing. The lecturer will be Dr. Graham Bier, music director of Reading Choral Society. The fee is $5. Registration is appreciated but not required by calling 610-396-6220. The fee may be paid at door. The lecture is in advance of the next RSO concert, scheduled for May 21 at 7:30 p.m. at the Santander Performing Arts Center.
